    Creaking front end

I haven't messed with my SS in awhile, but pulled it out for the campus parade with our new basketball National Champions and I hear this creaking sound from the front as soon as I back out from the garage. Driving around it made some more creaks and squeaks. Just pushing down on the front of the car re-creates the noise.

So, I figured I'd pull out the grease gun and lube it, but I didn't see any grease fittings upon sticking my head under the front. Are there any? Hmmm... I suspect it may be coming from the sway bar bushings, but I don't know right now. Since I didn't have the time to lift the car and really spend some time checking it all out, I thought I'd post and get some feedback from y'all.

When this semester is over and after I return from a vacation in the Bahamas, I'm planning to spend some time doing some upgrades to this toy. But until then, can you guys give this ole professor some help? I know I can't be the only one that has dealt with this...or could this be a trick that some George Mason fans are playing on me because my students sent Cinderella home early?

I have had the sway bar bushing make the same noise you describe on a ford I used to drive. When ever it got cold and the rubber got hard it would creak and squek.

Experienced this on my 02 rear sway bar bushings. They need to be greased.

It sounds like the Ball-joints are dry. I can't remember if they're greasable, but if they are, greasing them should take care of it. If they're not greasable, you'll have to replace the noisey one.

sounds to me that it could be one of two things.......either the bushings are wore and bad from over the time weather abuse or road conditions or the ball joints need to be greased. .....and i dont think that the front end of the camaro's have grease fittings but i can be wrong. although i have been under mine alot and enough to know that i havent seen any:_)

Had this same problem with my 2000, ended up being the front shocks going bad. It would probably be a good idea to get a mechanics stethoscope and have a buddy push on the front of the car while you listen so you can pin point it. Just my 2 cents.

I have a very obnoxious creaking noise coming out of my front passenger side area. It seems to be the shock. It only happens when the temperature outside is hot (90 degrees or more) and is more noticeable in slow stop and go traffic. I'm still trying to figure out why it only happens when it's hot?! Crazy ass thing...

I have creaks and squeaks; mostly from the rear, that get very noticeable when it gets cold. I have been told at the dealer and read on here that its common. i can't recreate it just by pushing on the car, but it does it over speed bumps. I was told thay the bushings looked good and haven't really worried about it. Let us know what you find out!
