Floor Jack
I bought a craftsman 2 1/2 ton floor jack about 8-9 years ago. It's been a good jack but lately it has started puking jack oil. It still works fine but I've starting to look for a replacement. I went to sears looking for one but all but the $300 unit have crappy ratings. Any suggestions on a replacement?

Harbor Freight has some decent prices on some aluminum race jacks.

IMO, stay away from Harbor Frieght's jacks. Mine was a piece of shit. I just bought a low profile jack from NAPA. Best jack I have ever used. Perfect for our cars, especially if they are lowered, like mine. Here's the link. I paid $200 for mine. http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...ion=Floor+Jack

One of my jack stands from Harbor Freight broke while the

My NAPA floor jack has a slow leak down after 20
years of abuse.

I had a harbor freight floor jack...think it was the 2 ton jack. POS. I gave it away. I now have a craftsman low profile aluminum race style jack.....not a big fan of it either. It's still to tall to get under the car without getting the car up a couple inches first and it maxes out to easily for my truck. My buddy has the regular ole big ass craftsman floor jack and that's going to be my next jack.

I really liked my craftsman but looking at the review online made me shy away. I ended up buying one from Northern Tool. The 1 1/2 ton racing jack for $129. I still have the craftsman and will keep using it till it finally croaks. I was glad to have 2 jacks when I was doing my header install.

I have a craftsman that I bought 8 years ago. It also started leaking oil. I spent half a day adding hyd. oil. There is a hard plastic seal around the piston. This is probably what is leaking. You can replace it and it will work fine. Be very careful if you try to add oil to a jack. It is under a LOT of pressure even with the handle down and turned out. I had mine blow up all over me. I was able to take off the big spring underneath and with the fill bolt out and the vent out work the jack up and down with my hands while adding small amounts of oil at a time. This will take a good while to get all the air out of the jack. Be Patient. Go SLOW do not drop the lifting arm of the jack. You will have another EXPLOSION of oil. I could not spend another $100 on a jack. You can repair yours, just be CAREFUL. Hope this helps.
