Strange noise from front left..
Hi guys, I appear to have a strange noise seemingly coming from front left. It is not consistent with engine rpms, but does seem consistent with the wheel rotating. It seems to dissipate somewhat when I turn to the wheels to the right, but not always and only while they are turned. It sounds kind of like a train's chuu chuug noise. At very low speeds when it's slowed it sounds similar to metal scrapping. *noise* no noise *noise* etc. This really just started up out of nowhere. I am assuming ball joint's possibly? It seems contained to the front left wheel well as far as I can tell. Also, seems to be becoming louder. I don't have access to a lift yet but I am hoping someone may have a decent idea of what this could be before I get a lift open to me. It's a 2000 Camaro z28. Anyone have an idea of what I should check for specifically?

How many miles on your brakes? Sounds like you might be describing the sensors rubbing on the rotor.

When i had that problem it ended up being the hub assembly. ( never buy anything from Autolenders)

You will probley only notice a ball joint problem when you turn a certain direction (left or right hand turns). Most of the time it doesn't make a noise either it will just make the wheel turn in towards the car when you turn to the direction of the broken ball joint.

The dealer I got it from said they put new pads and rotors on. I wasn't in complete belief of that. If they told the truth it would have only been about 3k miles and 5 1/2 months on the brakes. I wasn't able to drive much being stuck in the snow here.

It also is a little eerily reminiscent of a hub assembly that I have had go on one of my crown vic cruisers. It was chewing up the wheel it was so bad. I didn't notice any signs of a hub gone bad but I really didn't get much time to look. I will give the brakes a good check over next weekend when I get back from my trip. Thanks everyone!

It appears the brakes are fine... Now I am a little lost. I am still going to upgrade the brake system when I get back, but after showing it to a guy that builds custom cars from ground up he said it's definitely not the brakes... He didn't have the time to tear into it to check it out, he just basically listened too it.
