Even with a good tune, You eliminated your cat's which would break down that smell.
Your allways going to have a bit of a gas smell. I guess my question would be how strong and where is it coming from?

Is your catback clamped or welded to the y pipe. I had mine welded and most of the smell went away. It'll always have some smell since you have no cats it's basically like driving an old muscle car with fuel injection instead of a carb. Also if your tune is on the rich side it will smell a little more.

Only way to tell os have a mechanic with a wideband 02 check it. We used one when we did the street tune on my car. Also those clamps tend to leak so make sure there tight or hav it welded like mine. Another place to check it your header gaskets. If you used new ones your safe but if you reused the old ones you could have a leak there. I know from the 1st set of hookers they reused the gasket and it leaked. When I put the QTP's I bought new gaskets. But the y pipe to catback clamp is a spot that I noticed leaks on alot of setups. I had my friend at Midas weld up mine and several of my friends cars and it fixed most of the gas smell.

i reused my old gaskets and have checked under the hood a couple of times to make sure everything is fine and i dont hear and exhaust leaks anywhere along the manifolds.
What is the ratio that the air fuel needs to be for optimum performance. And where would you put the wideband to check it?

its guna smell like gas since your cats are off.....if you dont hear any exhaust leaks anywhere its nothing to worry about

Depends my y pipe has a plugged hole for one but we use one that clamps on the exhaust tip.
If the gaskets aren't leaking you can either Jack up your car or if you have a buddy with a lift check where the y pipe connects to the catback. It'll always smell like gas but I don't notice it in my car since I did some welding and leaned the a/f ratio. You have to have someone check it I'm not sure what mine is since I was doing some detailing while my car was being tuned. Any good local shop that tunes cars should know and can check it.

I would say most of the gas smell can be taken care of with a tune. But there will be always a little smell of gas. It's a muscle car, it should smell like that way.

I had to retune mine because that dyno tune before and after the leaks the smell was eye watering. Now that it's welded I have the new tune it still smells buy I don't really notice it in the car just of i'm standing near the back.
