I hate Murphy and his Law
Had the wheels aligned after the new struts and stuff. Smelled oil. Thought we saw a very small "stain" and replace the valve cover gaskets. Got worse. Smoking and stinking all to hell. Alignment rack knocked a trannie line loose and entire under undercarriage is covered in trannie fluid. No real damage but what a fricking mess.
Called my pals at Pontiac see if we can get the car back there and on a lift. Doing this shit on your back is damn near impossible. What a mess. Trannie fluid everywhere. I hate Murphy. Bastard.

That's why I had all my tranny lines replace with braided lines and AN connectors. Hopefully yours cleans up better then mine did. Took months to get all the tranny fluid out of the frame.

those tranny line connections are a piss poor design. I knocked one off of my bird when I did the heads/cam when I was moving stuff around up front. Caught it before I put the car back together but it didn't take much to knock that line out of there. Pain in the ass to get those keepers on and off too.

I think we all have had issues with the trans, they should have designed alot of that better...engineers .I always beleived they should be made to work on cars before designing shit...

Well kiss my butt......it turned out to be the line rubbing against the header on the drivers side wore a hole in it.

I can see how. My lines were so close on the drivers side that I had a spark plug boot wrapped around one to keep the header from heating it. Never thought about it rubbing through though.

We soaked the header wrap with brake cleaner.....smoke like a biatch...I think I will soak the area good with dawn detergent and water to get that crap out of the header wrap.....

That sucks, it will take a lot of time. I had a dog run a skunk under my truck one time and it let go, after about two weeks tried putting a water sprinkler under the truck, took two days but it went away. Maybe some degreaser and the sprinkle might help. Good luck
