Good stuff, considered doing the same for my 4.8 Seirra. what other mods have you done with your truck? looking forward to seeing what it puts down after the tune.

The engine is bone stock, Other then the supercharger, just a exhaust, headers, and soon to be a lot of tuning. And I cant wait to get it on the dyno myself, gotta wait till monday. Until then, I gotta stay out of the boost... to keep my damn pistons from melting or some shit.

Nice. Later on you may consider a cam swap; those centri's love working up top and the factory cam does not!

Have any suggestions for a cam that builds good torque down low, peaks around 6.5k, and has a pretty good sound to it?

I could write for days about cams, but in general, for this application, I would stay with something like a 224/228 on a 114LSA or even a shade smaller on that smaller displacement engine. I like the 114s for the centris because their tq curves are a little more broad and flat in general and have repeatedly proven to work well with these blowers. This type of grind is incredibly streetable as well. There is no need for something nasty in there in the pursuit of power; let the blower and boost take care of that. If you want to stay easy on the budget and high on the driveability side, an 03-04 LS6 cam would work very well in that 4.8l as well. It would give you the range you want and let that blower make some good peak.

Aight, thanks for the input.
Do you think my idea of a 3400-3600stall and 3.73s is good too?
I dont want too much a gear or too much stall because i drive across the country a few times a year, 3.73s seemed like a good gear for good cruising economy and good performance.
My end goal in the next year or two is to ultimately get into the 11s or low 12s in a full size pickup... without losing my drivability, and while keeping my stereo and creature comforts.Last edited by ericmck2000; 05-16-2010 at 12:45 PM.

The larger the stall you can stand to run, the harder the truck will leave with that style blower.

Truck is on dyno now.
Just called them, its pushing around 370ish at the wheels, they estimate a little over 500 at the crank.
Not gonna be able to pick it up today, I had a 02 senser die.
Exhaust is done. Headers going into true duel 2.5 pipes with 40 series dumping before the axles.

Sounds strange to me loosing over 130 horse through the drivetrain. thats 26%+ lose.

Dyno sheets and graph up.

Need a bigger fuel pump. Fuel pressure started dropping around 11 lbs of boost.

The end of the 4L60E
After the lesser part of 2 days, apparently, my stock 4L60E wants no part of the nearly 500 crank hp. Here is the result. Sorry, I didnt get a good video when the transmission still worked. Oh, and luckily, I made it home.
All of these videos take place in a hour of each other.....

Time to start preparing for a 4L80E........

Has been a long time since a reply. This build is still in progress.
But.... due to problems, 5600 miles ago, the transmission broke.
600 miles ago, popped a hole in #8 from cheap gas.
Did not fix either, and 25 miles ago the oil pump quit pumping.
But, even with no oil pressure, what sounds like a thrown rod, and oil and smoke going everywhere.... and a fucked up transmission and rear end(it is locked side to side but goes straight fine) It still works.... Kind of.....
However, The last time was a budget build. I might have hit 500hp on a engine dyno, but, on a chassis dyno, It only hit like 375. It is time for that to change.
4.8 is going away.
Fuel system, gone.
4l60E, gone.
Rear end, just rebuilt.
In with the good shit.
AES 390ci.
Has,
Lots of good forged internals, They said a customer pushed one to 1200hp.
I am dead set on reliability.
So, If i feel the need to push 1000rwhp, All i need to do is completely redo my FI setup.
I plan on running it 9.5/1 compression to get the most out of my p1sc.
My stock fuel system, going to be replaced by something that can handle 1000rwhp without a hiccup. Duel pumps is a must.
Meth injection is a maybe.
317 heads. Ill let aes decide on the cam.
4l60E is out, And, i am considering a 6L80E and a Vig 3600 converter. I like the idea of 6 gears to cruise in. Reliability and gas mileage are things that I plan on having.
My 48lb injectors. Gone. In with 80lb/hr injectors.
When this build is complete, I plan on everything being able to handle 1000rwhp. But, Since im throwing money everywhere else, I will keep the p1sc and get everything possible out of it.
My guess, 550-600rwhp to start.
Ill update when parts arrive. Give a month.

I would set it up at 10-10.5:1 SCR with the P1sc and run straight methanol in your Alkycontrol kit if it were mine..

Was talking to bob @ bs, he said 9.5/1 would be good for it.
Im planning on ripping off the p1 and throwing a turbo on it one day, 9-9.5 should give me plenty of tolerance for 91 octane and give me room to grow when im ready to put on something that can flow enough air.
Or, am i wrong in thinking?
10-10.5 just seems like i could have pinging problems on warm days or under certain conditions....... or when i up the boost to 20lbs in the future....
But, if i am wrong, please correct me.Last edited by ericmck2000; 04-05-2011 at 11:57 PM.

Safety is in the tune for the most part. Every late model car that we supercharge on a stock engine is a daily driver at >10:1
