Water pump replacement
Found out today that my water pump is about to go. I was told that I also need to replace my thermostat with the water pump. Are there any other parts I need to order as well, such as gaskets or o-rings? Also, I'm seeing a lot of different options and prices for replacement pumps. Does anyone have the part number offhand for the pump I need? 2001 WS6

From autozone the part number is EWP-9189 for the water pump. Make sure that it includes a new set of gaskets. If it doesn't then get some new ones.
If you dont want to go with autozone or you don't have one then just make sure that the water pump is for the 5.7L V8 engine. The tstat is a whole unit, meaning it comes with the neck and everything. if your car is stock and you need to use the heater often make sure you get the one for 180 degrees. If you get the other one for 160 degrees your heater will take longer to heat up. The 160 one keeps the engine running cooler which is good for it.

General rule, if the radiator is as old as the water pump, after the new water pump installation (with the increased pressure), it will not be long until the radiator starts to leak.

Car runs hot or a leak is the only other ways I know of besides hearing the bearings.

It's a good time to replace the belts too.
