Would it be wrong?
In one of my college classes I have three spanish speaking people around me. On either side of me...they speak english to the teacher perfectly. On their phone they speak spanish, wich I can take, they might be talking to a spanish only speaking relative. But they talk spanish back and forth during class, sometimes with me sitting between them. I don't know, it makes me feel uncomfortable, would it be wrong to ask them to stop. I mean, they speak 100% perfect english. When they ask for my help they always talk fine. I really really hate it because for all I know they are talking about me.

Don't worry about it. BUT DON'T OFFEND OTHERS. I am Hispanic and although my Spanish SUX, I tend to speak in Spanish to my relatives. Your classmates are probably having a personal conversation and they don't want others involved.

it's free country they can talk whatever language they want to each other. You wanna know what they are saying... learn spanish.
They seem to have taken the time to be fluant in more than one language. If they are not talking to you, what's the problem.

Learn some Spanish (Spanglish) and freak them out by joining in....
I speak/understand just enough to get (haltingly) by. Don't speak it at work at all. One of the gals asked me a question in Spanish and I blew her mind by answering. Even though I answered in English the look on her face was worth it.Last edited by 67CamaroRSSS; 04-09-2009 at 02:18 PM.

If they sit on either side trade seats so you don't feel so crowded.

Move to San Diego and it will be a daily occurance such as...
going to the store, everyone speaks Spanish
visit a fast food restaurant, eveyone speaks Spanish
Go to a Padre game, everyone speaks Spanish
Go get your car washed, everyone speaks Spanish
Listen to the landscapers mow your lawn, everyone speaks Spanish
Advice, learn Spanish, make your kids learn Spanish.

Tell them you will pay them 60 bucks to build a deck and get them in the back of your truck. Drive to the INS and get out and honk your horn and scream la migra.

We shouldn't have to learn a different language to understand what other people in our country are saying........I can't even walk into a freakin' wal-mart without seeing every sign they have there in spanish.........I wouldn't expect to move to france and not learn their language............

While I agree with you I have to make a comment: Do you know that the whole southwest US was part of Mexico at one time?
I don't advocate giving it back or any other similar BS, but the fact remains that most of the city names, streets, places of interest, etc, in this area of the country are Spanish. What I picked up of the language was from having been born and raised in the LA area. Even the state name "California" as well as the city name "Los Angeles" (San Francisco too) are Spanish.
