How many miles on the unit? What is the condition is the fluid? What torque converter are you running here? What rear end gear ratio? Anything done to the motor? If everything is in good working order, then the "modified" TransGo Performance Shift kit is the way to go to improve durability. It offers smooth part throttle shifts, and firm WOT shifts.

If this is for the 1999, then I would go with the TransGo Shift kit with aluminum accumulator pistons, hardened and oem pins. They go for $117.64. If you are going to do this yourself without any help, then it will take the better part of a day. You will need solvent, blue shop towels, air, inch pound torque wrench, drill, files, normal hand tools, etc.

The same kit, just maybe different separator plate hole sizes. That can depend on the torque converter you are running, which diameter and stall, rear end gear ratio, and how you drive, what has been done to the motor, etc.

Another vote for the Transgo shift kit, with the increased line pressure you will have to address the Torque Management system on the 01 & 02 models.

I definitely recommend the trans go shift kit, made a big difference, shifts are quicker and have less hesitation.

Hey Guys. Wanting to do the same thing to my 2002 Z-28. Car is stock with the exception of an SLP lid. So is the Trans Go the best for my application? And who has the best prices?

Why not just use a hand-held and program for firmer shifts & not have to drop the trans. pan or get your pinkie's all greasey ?
