Help Aftermarket Sail Panel Speakers Sound Terrible.
Hi I just purchased a 99 T/A with the monsoon sound sytstem about a week ago but both of the sail panel subwoofers were blown so I bought a set of 6.5 Infinity Kappa 62.7 2 ohm 2 way speakers planning to use the woofers only as a relacement for my stock blown sail panel subwoofers so I took the stock woofers out and noticed that they are 4 ohm DVC's so I hooked the Infinity's up with both positive red factory wires hooked to the infinity's single positive and both factory black/red negative wires to the infinity single negative turned on the stereo and the bass sounds terrible the bass pops and breaks up really bad when I increase the volume level and after doing research I have found out that many f-body owners use these infinity's for door speakers not sail panel subwoofers so my question is can these speakers be used as sail subwoofer replacements and if so how are they supose to be wired? Or will I just have to use these as door replacement speakers and buy different sail panel replacement speakers? If so what kind of speaker should I look for,and how many ohms, and db's should I look for? I am suppose to be meeting a guy this friday who sells 4th gen f-body parts to buy a keyless entry remote fob for my T/A and he says that he has some factory sail panel subs but I know that factory subs are expensise and for less money I could get a better quality aftermarket replacement so all and any help would be a preciated. Thanks In Advance

NEVER EVER combine speaker wires like that. You can only use one set of them to power your new speakers. NOT both sets.

When you took the wires off your stock speakers there should be 2 long wires and 2 short, use the long ones only...Don't use the short ones.

You really shouldn't try to use those speakers as subs.... they're not meant for that. Add a sub in the back, it'll sound alot better.
