Stock head unit? Monsoon? If so, the stock speakers are dual voice coil and there are very few choices for aftermarket replacements.

Call Crutchfield and ask them if the speakers are compatable. Even if you did not buy from them. They are very nice and they will answer your question.

Monsoon system has the dual voicecoil setup, so you should be fine with aftermarket speakers. Could be a polarity issue -- if the positive and negative are reversed, the speaker cone will suck in, rather than push out. Other problem could be impedance. If you have a high impedance 8 ohm speaker, it will sound quieter than a 4 ohm speaker. The wiring is probably not an issue as you are using a single speaker in place of the stocker on each side. If you were installing multiple speakers on one channel, you can wire in parrallel or series to obtain the desired load for the amp or head unit... that's not your problem though.

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
You can wire a dual voice coil speaker 1 of 2 ways, in series or parallel, which significantly changes the performance depending on the amp.

i think the sail panel speakers in the stock set up were subs.. i had the same low volume from mine when i first hooked them up. just run different speaker wires straight to the head unit..
