it would need to be about 2" closer. both are safe. i've ran both numerous times. i still prefer wet.

do i need a purge for a wet kit

the purge is used to get air out of the lines when you first hook up a fresh filled bottle. after that, it is used to get liquid nitrous up to the solenoid.
to get the most out of either dry or wet, you should have a purge kit and bottle heater. when i first started using nitrous, i would purge into the motor during the burnout. just a quick 1 second hit, while heating up the tires.

If your worried spend the extra money and get a wet system not a cheese ball dry kit.
You'll actually better off ALL the way around with a wet kit.
Put a Hobbs switch on the fuel side and if you loose fuel press beyond that set point it will cut power to the solinoids so NO MELT DOWNS!!!!Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
