got beat by a STI
was headed out to take my wife to dinner and pulled up to a light with a 04-05 STI(not the new ones or the body style before these) we both took off easy from the light, roll up to about 20 and we both punch it, I got the jump but then he reeled me in and put about 1-1.5 car lengths on me by about 100mph. We slowed down and went from a 60 roll, same results. I talked to him at the next light and he said he had $20k into his car and was impressed as hell I kept up as well as I did, it was actually a nice STI too.(tastefully done) For the record I did not spray my 125hp.shot, bottle was closed and empty LOL, I need to get a remote bottle opener. But I'm sure had I sprayed the outcome would have been different, not making excuses though, a win is a win.

Wow. All I can say is I wonder how fast my car (or your GTO) would be if we put $20k in it. Or did the STi driver mean he had that much total in his car? Let's see, I bought my car a few years ago for 14.5k, I have only 1.5k more in mods, so that leaves me 4k to go. New heads, cam, intake, tune would take me to about $20k total. I guess this shows how strong our cars are. Sorry for the loss, tho, there is always someone out there who is faster.

I just mentioned this thread to my neighbor with an '05 STi, and he said with $20k invested he should have been much much faster than that. He has a little less than $11k invested in his STi (including diff) w/ a Perrin Rotated Mount Turbo, flash, and some other stuff, and put 438 to the wheels.

this guy said he had it dyno'd that day, his exact words were "I put down 450AWHP today" The car is fast, I didn't have time to ask him what he ran in 1/4 though, he actually said he hated going from a dig. I'll bet he's lieing about having 450AWHP, maybe 350awhp-375awhp, although it's preety tough to pull the goat from a roll. I've taken 3 modded F-bodies from rolls all with LS1s by 3-4 car lengths to 100mph. One had a lid, full exhaust, headers, tune and 4.10 gears(I beat him by 1-2 car lengths). My mods are:
LTs
3in. OR mids
full 3in exhaust with SLP LMII mufflers and cat. and resonator delete
ported TB
CAI
custom tune
ZEX 125hp. wet shot w/bottle warmer and purge kit
I also have a FAST 90 intake manifold, but have not installed it yet, I will this weekend.

Yeah 350-375 awhp sounds more like it. If you would of squeezed you would have ate 'em.

Nice race, Its always nice knowing somone faster. it gives you a better goal to reach. Hp numbers means nothing, I put down 400WHP in my 240 and hang with my buddies 597WHP turbo mustang. the driver mod is the best mod.

Sleeper101 is like the most rounded dude on this site. He does not base his claims off of opinion, he bases them off facts that he's learned through racing.
Some of you need to learn from him.

Its single turbo. I wouldn't run a TT setup unless it was on a Big block. just too much lag. It would be like owning a Supra!!

05gtoautoX- Did you spray your 125 shot?
From what I have seen at the tracks here 1/8th mile of course.
Ls1-camaro's I have seen put down a 7.40's running 100Shot, exhuast,lid, and 3,000 stall converter A4.
I have also seen a Slightly modded Sti; Max 5k in upgrades, bigger turbo, exhuast, tune and a Driver mod run Deep into the 7.50's,
So with that in the 1/8th mile thats a LS1 with 100shot about 1/2 car win in the 1/8th around 96MPH.
So personally I have seen both Ls1 and STI do around 5k of mods and really make a close race out of it.Last edited by mrr23; 05-30-2008 at 12:53 PM.
