remote mount turbo question
what would be the best turbo for a single remote mount turbo. im fabbing up my own kit and i need to know what size turbo, a/r ect everything. if anyone has a link to a turbo that would work i wold appreciate it. i have a 2002 automatic ss, it has longtubes and high flow cats, made 345 hp at the wheels on the dyno. Im looking for littlest lag and to make 600 rear wheel max. thanks

go to the sts turbo website. ststurbo.c o m (with no spaces in the 'com') - they seem to be the most popular with these remote-mount turbos. the smallest size they offer is a 60mm - i wouldnt go any smaller than that because LS1s have a lot of displacement so even 60mm turbos have full spool by like 3000rpm or so. a 60mm turbo isnt even considered large for the supra community. call up sts, they have all different sized garretts depending on your power levels.

as i said before, garrett is a popular brand of turbo, and i wouldnt reccommend anything smaller than a 60mm since we're talking V8s here. a/r and everything else is up to you.

im diggin i know, but this website is dead on the subject so im trying to get some new fresh ideas.
first off to answer teh old question, nothing less then a T70 with .81 for starters. anything less and you limit the motors higher RPM capibility to produce power. alot of people have been recommending T76's as starting points and have had really good output with them.
anywho, whats new lol

Kinda glad you're bringing the FI section back to life. I may be venturing into a turbo car for a 2nd toy in the future.

the rear mounts need to b sized to the application, they work really good, there are good and bad things to be said about everything and every one in this world, guess it is up to the end user, his knowledge and experience in the automotive field.
I personally like the rear mounts on the GTO leaves more room in the engine bay,its a much cleaner look,no need to remove air conditing,or remove the battery and put in trunk, works as a daily driver in the real world.mods: custom built twins, built 408 w/l92 stock GM heads,GM matching intake, drag bags, frame ties, aluminum drive shaft, performabuilt 4l80e,Yank converter, ohios fastest and quickest 04-06 GTO 9.52 at 144mph. 1.50 60ft on stock rear end and shafts/suspension,on drag radials.
