Suppose to be around 0.003 (3 thousandths) hot.
I set mine to 0.015 (15 thousandths) cold.
Adjustable rockers are a must.

Yes. That's a good lifter for nonadjustable rockers. Make sure you get your lifter preload where you need it with the proper length push rod.

thanks because i ve been having problems with getting oil to my heads and i was told the comp r's are very specific... with non milled heads and ls7 lifters and stock rockers my hardened 7.4 pushrods should be good i think

If you're having problems getting oil up top, are you sure the barbell that goes in the oil galley in the rear of the block is installed correctly?

well the block is from rpm in dallas but barbell?? i have no idea to be honest... the oil pressure was 65psi at idle... motor is completely out of car (again) so i could figure out the whole issue..... i know the "dogbone" plug is in properly

Same thing. That part was updated, but as I recall, it was to reduce oil to the top.

Well, come to think of it, if you've got good oil pressure, but no oil/not enough oil to the lifters & top of the engine, that could be an issue with cam bearing hole(s) not correctly lined up in the block.
But, anyhow, the plastic piece in the rear engine galley comes out easy enough. Can't see what it would harm to check it & make sure the o ring is good.

u have any pics of this plastic piece or o ring bc the only o ring im aware of is the one on the oil pump..... now granted im learning as i go.... but i basically took the back pieces off my ls1 block and moved them over to the 408..

I don't know exactly what is causeing your oiling issue, just trying to help find it by tossing cam bearings out as a possibility. Only way I know to check the cam bearings is to pull the cam. If you have a video scope you can check it with that.
