Primer Black/ Reddish- 1984 C10/1982 Cutlass
Preparing for the future!!!!
Hey guys, I am new to LS1, but I have decided to get a LQ9 motor and put it into my 1984 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe Truck. i have changed the engine before, but I feel a little novice in the procedures in swapping. I want to know what I need to make this thing complete. While I know about the upgrades for a street killer, I want to use a carburetor and use it to spin a tire or two on the street, but also pull my Race car to the track Any help would be appreciated, as this is my first endeavor into the new generation small block engines.
Thanks in advance,
Schoolboi!!!!!

I've done this swap in a 72 4x4 blazer. If you have a 2wd it's much easier and cheaper. You didn't mention which.
Since you're going carb it's even cheaper yet. You'll just need an ignition controller from MSD, the rest is cake since many companies make swap kits for most cars and trucks now, including mounts, headers, etc.... The 6.0 has good pulling power so towing is decent depending on your setup. Not something I'd be happy pulling the enclosed trailer with but it will tug around a small 18 foot open trailer and car without trouble.
Goodluck with the swap, you'll enjoy it when it's finished.
