Weird
Hey guys i own a 02 Trans-am i have been having the weirdest problem. I have had to replace my alternator twice in about six months ever since. my car has wanted to act like there was miss firing as well as not wanting to idle right, My power has decreased,my exhaust has become quite. My intake manifold have been replaced recently, my maf sensor is new. there is no leak in vacuum either. and sometimes my alternator gauge gos up and down. I have had several people tell that all of the OBD 2 type cars will act this way if there is a problem with getting enough current through my charging system. I am stumped if anyone has heard of this please let me know

have you check your voltage with a handheld voltmeter, or other external gauge? if so what are your readings at the altenator and the battery?
I've got more than a few bad replacement altenators in the past.
check all wires and connections too

just had a similar prob on my dads suburban. . changed the alternator twice and battery 3 times. . .noticed the belt was a little loose. i went got a new one and when i took the old one off, i compared them. . . the old one was about 3-4 inches longer. needless to say, the new belt completely fixed it.

My alternator is putting out 14 and a half volts its supposed to be a 102 amp alt. But the peak amps are 79 which is weird. My batt is rated at 475 cca but im only getting 380 i know these cars have 700 cca batts from the factory but this batt has been in the car since i've had it. And i've owned the car about 3 years and never had this problem before. Maybe the batt has just gotten too weak and is straining my alternator. If that's the case it just seems weird what the side effects from a problem like this can cause.

Did you have the battery load tested? Most parts stores do it free. Eliminate that first, if it needs replacement get what's supposed to be in there, 690 CCA. Friend of mine had horrible luck with parts store alternators, finally bought a new GM unit.

Check the battery for a date scratched off. If it is over 4 years old I would replace that. Also check connections for corrosion. Many people have had corrosion that caused problems.

had a similar problem, but it would completely drain my battery, it was the wire going to the alternator from the battery i replaced it and problem solved.
