Good Price?
Hey Everybody,
I went and looked at a 98 Z28 convertible 6-speed with 22k on it today. Everything was pretty much tip top on the car except it needs new tires (dry rot) still has original tires. The guy has all the maintenance records and has always used synthetic oil. He wants 11,900 for it. Does anyone have any input on this price?
Thanks

Sounds good to me. I would get vin number and do a carfax check to make sure it's not a salvage or rebuild title. Look the car over for paint lines like in the door jams, under hood, truck, etc... and look for over spray where body work may have been done, because it may not show up in the carfax report. What questions me is if the tires are dire rotted, why has it not been drove in a while???? But if everything checks out, I think its a good price personally. I have a 98 coupe t56 with 122K and have been offered 7k as it is and it currently more/less stock and needs a t56 rebuild and clutch. It being a convertabile, you might also want to take it for a test drive to a car wash to see if or should i say how much it will leak. It's better safe than sorry!!!!!!

i've been looking at newer f-bodies and that seems like a very good price.
PM me with the VIN if u want and i can see if GM has any history in its database.
make sure u look at the condition of the coolant hoses. they like to crack also when the car isnt used much

I have a 1996 z28 convertible with 50K and I paid $12800. Car was mint inside and out with a couple of mods ( lowered, Borla exhaust and kick a s s sterio ). All I did was put rims to my liking and turn key. I agree with the boys run a CarFax, it will be the best money you ever spent.

Thanks for all the input guys,
The car has been very well taken care of, but I will run a Carfax on it. Mingo, I'll let you know if I dont end up buying the car. One more concern though. When I test drove the car I noticed that the brake pedal was very stiff. I was told this might be a bad booster. Do you think that could be the case with the miles? Or maybe its just from sitting in this guys garage and only being used every few months?
