3.73s and gas mileage
First of all I would like to thank you guys for your feedback on the ls6 intake.
My new question is will 3.73s effect my gas mileage that much? I have 98 z28 with an automatic trans.

No, it will not affect your gas mileage much, but you want to go faster, Right?!!
No matter what, with 3:73's your gonna be into the throttle more!

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
You don't buy a V8 powered Muscle Car because of it's economy of operation, you buy it because hammering the loud pedal makes your adrenaline flow and your heart pound.

Can't speak for autos but going from 3:42s to 4:10s in my M6 my mpgs didn't change even 1 mpg. Less than a 1mpg drop. Cant believe it'd be that different for an auto. Losing 3mpg seems like alot.

Look at your driverside door panel, it lists the codes, almost positive GU4 is for 3.42's, your 01 if its a SS has 3.42's., it its a six speed, 3.23's if its a auto.

Kiss traction goodbye with the 3.73's and street tires. you won't notice to bad a difference with the gears unless you keep your foot in it all the time. I put 4.11's/9", MS3, 3600 stall, Headers, LS6 and tune pretty much at the same time and dropped from about 28 average to about 20-21 average on a 100 mile trip to work. Of course that changes when I stomped the go pedal, but just putting around town and driving back to work it wasn't as drastic as I expected.
I also disagree with 67Camaro somewhat on the v8 DD aspect. I got rid of my crappy 400$ tercel as a DD for my current LS2 Goat just because I couldn't stand driving that turd and missed the v8 feel even just driving to work and back. I don't think I'll be going back to 4 cylinder beaters anytime soon, I'd rather spend just a tad more in gas to drive something I like. I might just be crazy like that though.

So street racing is out for me then huh? Cause I do quite a bit of street racing from a dead stop. And won't be getting any traction with street tires huh?

I Had 245/50/16 when I switched to 3.73 in my A4 and they were gone in a month.
You can roast the tires all day but unfortunantly you will have little traction until you upgrade your wheels and tires.
I could not hook up until going with a 315/35/17 and the 3.73 was about the only mod, well it has a tune also.
You will have to be carefull when really getting on it or you may end up in the other lane or the ditch.

You just have to control it I have found. Not saying that I have the solution by any means, but I have 4.11's in my M6 WS6 and I do have traction problems but I have learned to control the throttle it makes it a bit easier for me to grab traction. Is the OP auto or M6?
