Dyno jet
299 hp at 5100rpm 323 TQ at 2700rpm.
Pulls went to 6100
At 6100 HP was down to 270 ish
Dyno operator had this comment: you really need an LS6 intake and a set of valve springs.
I think he's right, should the peak power lever be higher in the graph?87 GN 7.75 1/8th @ 90MPH-SOLD

99's have the smallest cam out of the 98-02 yrs. Combine with the shitty heads they came with and the 26lb injectors plus age it doesn't surprise me. It should honestly be a bit higher. But there are so many factors when using a dyno. Is it a Mustang Dyno? They always read lower then Dynojet's.
The LS6 intake will help, set of 243 or 799's even more so. You can get a 228 cam and have a nice bump in power that you can have a Frost tune done and not break the bank for a full tuning session like you would if you got aftermarket heads and a beef up cam.Last edited by SMWS6TA; 02-08-2018 at 08:06 AM.

122k. Plugs have been changed at 100k . I checked them and them and they looked clean but it couldn't hurt for a fresh AC Delco set. No misfire codes have been detected. No codes at all have cropped up.

For plugs TR-5's if you want the long life of iridium or TR55 is you have some bolt on mods and want a better performing plug. Only negative with the TR55 is you'll need to swap out every 25k miles because thy are copper core plugs. But they do give a hotter spark.

Now if you what a decent bump in power/tq but not seriously break the bank or have to do a bunch of serious supporting mods.
A 228 cam ($375), LS6 valve springs ($unknown haven't shopped for these) , 243 or 799 heads ($350-450 used) and a LS6 intake ($250-350 used). You can get a mail order tune ($150) from Frost and not need a full dyno tune like you would if you did a radical cam and aftermarket heads.
Only other suggestion if you do all this is to also do the following: Melling 10295 oil pump ($135), LS2 timing chain ($70), LS7 lifters ($110), and chrome molly pushrods ($100). These are items that should be replaced now because the stock ones have been in use already for a long time now and since you're already breaking down the engine to do the above suggestion then doing this is the right time as well. Save you time and money.
