'00 Z/28 Vs. '03 Mach 1
Yea, I've wanted to race one for awhile. They seem like a rare car to come across around my area. Well, he gets on my ass and there's a ton of traffic, so once it clears I hang off in the right lane and we both get a straight away. He gets along side of me and we both hit it. I got a car on him and stayed right there all the way upto 110mph when we both hit traffic again and let off. I gave him the thumbs up, but apparently that wasn't good enough for him. So... we go at it again from 40 upto about 120mph where I had him by 1 1/2 car lengths. I honestly thought he was gonna destroy my car since I heard his cams & loud ass exhaust, but I held my own. Mods in sig...

Very nice.
Question for you....how could you 'hear' his cams while rolling down the road?

If he had cams on his 4 valve mach you would've been walked...he probably had light bolt-ons with a catback that actually flows well

I know I would've been walked. That's what I was expecting man! A catback that flows well? I know, I'm forever cursed w/ FlowMaster... Once my headers are on I'm gonna hack the catback off, kick it a few times and slap on a bullet and a dump after the Ypipe. We caught a light together after he jumped on my ass the 1st time, it sounded like he had cams but it was hard to tell over his exhaust revving. Yea, he kept revving at me the entire time.

As a general rule, and with an otherwise stock motor (ie....stock compression), the only way you'll hear aftermarket cams in a 4V 4.6 is when it is at idle.
And if a 4V lopes at idle, it is quite possible the cams are for little more than sound, as those motors do not need a lot of lift, duration, or overlap.

ha! i had some tool in an 04 mach that told me he has beat ls1s before and he would beat me just like them. i was running open headers when he called me out. from 35 to just into 3rd gear i could see his whole car in my rearview.
doesnt seem like a fairy tale to me.
its okay if you are a blue oval guy and come to an ls1 site and are cool, there are a lot of cool mustang people on here, but dont come on here and talk shit just to ruffle some feathers

i can say that the kill is more than possible, unless the mach was cammed. most 4v cars that have cams have a lot more. Anyway good kill.

Wow! Thanks guys! I have no reason to make crap up especially to try to impress others on a computer forum. To be honest I haven't gotten much action in my area and this recent event I felt was worth posting. Mach 1's aren't exactly all over the place by me. I've seen more V6 Stang's then anything else. Hopefully I'll find more to post about ...

Heh I understand what ya mean man. It's always nice when you beat someone who was faster than you or thinks they were. Nice kill I hope you get to see more blue oval in your rear view. (just not the crown vic kind LOL)
There are LOTS of LS1s LT1s Ricers and V8 mustangs around here in Kentucky. I'm never at a loss for someone to race. Although when racing I'm always on my bike heh. The problem is finding a place to show off your power w/out the damn popo on your ass =(
