any real differences between UMI, Spohn, BMR.
as far as i can tell its just a brace. i cant imagine how one could be a hell of a lot better than another.

Fact is, none of them are good. Its a appearance mod at best. No added benefit, save your money for something else thats useful.

From what I understand and have heard from a lot of people, that is one mod that doesn't do much of anything. I never got one because of this.
Someone else who owns one might say different, but just repeating what others have told me that bought one. More for show than anything else.
Do you do any autocrossing?

SFCs stiffen up the body quite a bit and keep the body panels from flexing. Your $$ will be much better put to use with this mod.

They are useful to lean on when working on the engine.

Get the SFCs. They will stiffen the car a lot. Helps with handling and getting traction from a light.

Yeah the STB is not a needing item. I would put the SFC on first.
Thanks,
Mark

I cant say i have noticed any handle differnece either. But mines shiney red and looks good under the hood its a UMI STB for $64. One of my first chasis mods.
Its that or get the silly little corvette valve/coil cover thingys and those are $100+
I like UMI stuff though, get the SFC first. Youll feel the difference in handling for sure. The car just feels more "solid" after install.Last edited by JoshuaGrooms83; 02-28-2010 at 07:12 PM.

Shock tower braces are mostly good for puller cars not so much 4th gen f-bod. There's so much uni-body up front on our cars you'd be hard pressed to find that it's flexing much..

I dont know if i would want to hoist up on those 4 bolts that hold it done? Id stick to appearance lol
But in all seriousness, its not gonna really hurt you if you get it. Its only a $70 mod and it doesnt look all that bad. It just doesnt have all that much of an impact on handling as other mods like SFC's or lower control arms or roll cages. In all for the most part its an appearance mod with minimal performance gains. it does something, just not all that much lol
