Arctic White- 1999 Trans Am 30th Anniv
Is there a paint code for1999 30th anniv blue wheels ?
With the 99 trans am blue wheels next to impossible to find anymore, has anyone ever attempted to touch up nicks on thier wheels? I know that they are high polished aluminum wheels with a tinted clear coat painted over that. They are NOT anodized like some think. I am the second owner of this car and the blue has come off in a couple spots. I am going to attempt to fix this with a small hobby airbrush, but am hitting dead ends as to the tint color of the wheel. Add in that the later numbered cars have a darker tint then the earlier numbered ones, and you have a mess. Any ideas? Thanks

The only thing that I could find for touching up was this:

The Wheel Warehouse sales them and they may even repair them:

Arctic White- 1999 Trans Am 30th Anniv
Thanks a lot for that info there. I just ordered a set of 4 from Wheel Warehouse. 1,995.00 shipped. Was told a couple days to put together, then they will ship out UPS. They even asked light or dark tint. I'll be putting my stock, less then perfect, wheels on ebay to recoup some of the cost from this set. Shouldn't be too hard to do, seeing how hard it is to find these in the first place.

Did you think about returning them to get a core credit, or was it not worth it?

There was no core charge on them to begin with. So, what I get back on ebay for the OEM's will go towards off setting the replacemant wheels price.

I was trying to figure this out for a friend a while back, I thought they were anodized, didn't know they were actually painted. Are yours light or dark? I'll try to get a hold of him to see if he still needs a set and send him your way if he does, if you don't sell them first

Anodizing still requires painting or dyeing of the wheels.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anodizing
" Anodizing , or anodising in British English, is an
electrolytic passivation process used to increase the
thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of
metal parts. The process is called "anodizing" because
the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an
electrical circuit. Anodizing increases corrosion
resistance and wear resistance, and provides better
adhesion for paint primers and glues than does bare
metal. Anodic films can also be used for a number of
cosmetic effects, either with thick porous coatings that
can absorb dyes or with thin transparent coatings that
add interference effects to reflected light. "
