definately, 3400 at a bare minimum,
remember with any stall bigger than factory makes lots of extra heat, so you will need a transmission cooler too.

And I've read about transmission coolers.....is it necessary? I have a small budget at the moment.

experience has taught me to hold out, save up, and do it right one time.

A trans cooler is a MUST when upgrading the converter.
I got mine from a local RV dealer on clearance for $30 with the hoses. It's bigger than the popular one everyone uses from B&M but cheaper.
I would go with a 34 or 3600.
What other mods are done to the car? Are you planning on doing any soon? If so that might affect the size converter you want to go with.
If you are doing the work this would be a good time to do other mods to. (pending wallet and wife approval)
You have to remove the exhaust, torque arm, drive shaft, etc...
Things can be upgraded with out doing the work twice.

Its is needed. Gonna be honest with you, do it right or dont do it.
I have a TCI 3000 street fighter and should of got the 3500.
When doing a stall, you also need, a trans cooler, shift kit and tuning.
With a 3000 plus stall you will see a huge difference in the car. It is the best thing you can do to an automatic car.

Yes, it is a must unless you wann burn your trans and stall up really fast.
+1 on going bigger than you want as well. I would also keep future plans in mind. If you plan on adding H/C/I, n2o, or boost later make sure your converter is going to be able handle that power increase as well.Last edited by Packy; 03-11-2011 at 05:53 AM.

That doesn't help me. Seems how I don't live around an rv park. But I found this converter on eBay....not sure about it yet. Anyone here used theirs before? http://compare.ebay.com/like/3102805...=263602_309572

This will help you for the cooler:

Mine looks just like that but it was a brand I never heard of and cheaper.
Now for the converter. That is cheap. You have to ask yourself why it is cheap. This thread is another cheap converter ebay company http://ls1.com/forums/showthread.php...ebay+converter
A transmission has a lot of stuff in it I don't know how to fix. They are expensive to fix b/c of that. Now I am going to change the converter I don't want to put a "cheap" one in there and take a chance on damaging my transmission that is expensive. I bought a Yank SS4000 for my car. I paid 675 shipped for mine in a GP. It's already setup for when I spray it and a 3 year warranty!
Just some food for thought
