visual guide for hptuners
just something i am making as i have time. i am doing this to try and help people understand how to use it, or want to get an idea of what you can do before purchasing this product, or any other full tuning suite. this is not endorsed by hptuners.

this is a work in progress. i may make more pages daily. i am open to suggestions and help in making this a decent guide.Last edited by mrr23; 09-28-2010 at 05:21 PM.

what would be my best bet in purchasing hptuner. the standard or pro. what do most ppl purchase?

with the standard, you have to have the laptop in the car and running to log. with the MPVI PRO, the cable has the ability to log without the laptop connected. you can also connect external 5 volt reference devices, i.e. wideband, to the cable and log.
standard is $500.00
pro is $649.00
if you get standard and want to upgrade to pro, it's $300.00. so, it's cheaper to get the pro now. it's what i have.

patience and have the ability to grasp things on your own. as they always say, start off with the little things and go from there.

I started looking at switching to HPtuners this week. I've been trying to hold out because I already have edit but right now trying to tune my cam with edit is kicking my ass. I'm about to give up on edit and move to hptuners but if I do that I also have to buy a new laptop which is really what's holding me back. I hate having to shell out $1k for tuning software and a laptop. My current laptop is only a 366mhz and although I could still use that to flash with hptuners I wouldn't be able to log. With the pro I could use the black box to log and technically get by for a while but then I wouldn't be able to use the live controls to make adjustments while the car is running which would suck. I'm gonna give it a few more shots with edit before I decide what to do.

for idle, i don't see how you would feel a power difference. all you are doing is sitting there. sound? sure. if you want more lope to the engine, you lower the idle. you want a smoother idle, then you raise it. you want to play with this, when you change cams.
