Loudmouth Owners
I've got an A4 running SLP Loudmouth without tips, cruising on the highway the drone is HORRIBLE, will putting tips on it and getting it past the bumper help, or is it always going to be this way? 3.23s by the way. I do really like the sound I've got with the Loudmouth externally, but it isn't worth the resonance I'm living with now, so are tips gonna help?

yours may drone more from being an auto, my 6th gear on the hwy and I can barely hear it. 60mph = 1400rpms so it is not that bad for me. Try cutting out the resonator and repalcing it w/ a dynomax muffler. This is called the dynomouth mod, alot of people go w/ that........

I've seen that, I just want to know if it would help since it would be past the bumper instead of inside it. I plan on getting GMMG eventually so I was hoping for an easy fix until I get it. Yeah my friend has an M6 and his isn't near as bad as mine. 70mph = 2000 thanks to 3.23s and my A4.

Do you get the resonance under light and moderate acceleration like loudmouth? I can't talk on the phone at certain rpm. Heck, for GMMG I don't mind taking some resonance if I have to, but I hear it shouldn't be as bad as loudmouth. It's not about loud outside, or even loud inside, it's the droning resonance

I use to have a loudmouth and alot of people did they dynomouth conversion and loved it. I put up with the ressonance just because I loved the way it sounded!! Im going back to a loudmouth as soon as I get stationed at my first base and have time to work on the car.

I have a Borlamouth. I'm using the XR-1 bullet muffler. There is rassing at 2,000-2,500 rpms when accelerating in 6th gear. As far as drone and interior resonance it is a lot less than a stock Loudmouth. Radio listening and conversing is possible (why you would want to do that over listening to the music coming from the engine is a mystery to me). My wife has sensitivity to sounds and to her it is painfull sometimes because she is sooo sensitive especially the low frequency rumble present during cruising, as for me it doesn't bother me. Drone is also present but hardly noticeable compared to the stock LM.
To answer your question:
- tips will help a tiny bit
- replacing the resonator with a Dynomax or Borla (will help a lot)
- Don't use overdrive (you will loose a some mileage but enjoy it more)

I love the loudmouth, but i have always wondered what it would sound like with a flowmaster 1 chamber in place of the resonator.

I love my LM,, and get alot of compliments on it. I too have the 2000 rpm drone on the highway. Ya get used to it though, when I get headers I'll probably go the Borla/Dyno mouth route.

I wouldnt give Flowdisaster the time of day. Anything with a chamber is restrictive. If you are really wanting a Resonator, try either a Glasspack or a Dynomax Ultra Round Muffler, that way the air can pass freely.
