Which muffler to replace stock muffler
I've search some on here, but I am mostly being lazy. I have a 2002 WS6. I don't think the exhaust system is factory. One of my tailpipes broke/rotted out of the muffler.
Basically, I need to find a replacement muffler and can't find exactly what I need. What size do I need? Is it 3" in with 2.5" outs?
The more info you can provide, the better. I want to buy one online. Suggestions on brands? I want a deeper sounding one. Something like the flowmaster 80 series. Except I here the flow sucks on those. Any links are great.
Thank you very much,
Brandon

Well as far as what size pipes you have depends on what exhaust the previous owner put on there. Tape measure would work great for ya. Are you wanting a new catback or just muffler? The flowmaster sounds great but as you said they dont really flow too well. What price range are you looking? Any mods done too the car? Well answer a few of these ques. and we can hook u up. check out ls1sounds.com for sound clips

Thanks for the reply.
I am just wanting a muffler and don't want to spend over $100. I think there is an aftermarket exhaust on the car. I"ll have to take a look at it.

Black- 98 Trans Am Convertible
I would not get the Hooker Aero if I were wanting a deeper, louder tone without headers. I was so pissed after having mine installed (almost no different than stock) that I bought a cutout the next day and have not capped it once since I got it on.

Hooker, flowmaster or dynomax is probably your best bet for mufflers under $100.

there are so many different options. Seems to be a little more complicated than I want. Do you guys buy them online and pay someone to install it locally?
