tell me about these cam specs
Ok so ive pretty much made up my mind on getting a set of LS6 heads and some sort of cam for my car, already have pacesetter LTs and an LS6 intake.
Well i was looking at either TSP or Patriot heads, still undecided on cam, but this guy i know is rebuilding his 04 Z06, and i can get his heads and cam for $550
heads are stock 243s, i dont know if the cam is stock or not, specs are
204/218 .551/.547 and 117.5
tell me what i need to know.

The heads would be worth the investment, but the cam not so much. But I guess it all depends on what you want to do with your car. If you're looking for a decent cam with good street maners, go for an MS3 or any 228 size cam.

Cam would be an upgrade but nothing major. I looked in to it and for the street it would be good but nothing super powerful.

Well its my DD, so nothing crazy....I just like to be able to play a little....I saw a guys sig on another forum with about my same set up, and he dynoed 383 rwhp.....that would make me happy.
But I was leaning heavily towards the LS6 heads and an MS3 anyway, but this seems like a pretty good deal, give me a little taste of the H/C/I world.
What kind of investment would it be to get the heads ported and polished?

TSP 228R on a 112LSA is a good DD cam with good power that works well in the LS1.

Heads are worth it but not the cam.

Does this include springs and pushrods or just heads and cam?
Things you will need
Head gaskets
Head bolts
pushrods
valve springs
bunch of oil and coolant
Things you should get
lifters
oil pump
timing chain

You would start crossing the line where it would be the same price to buy some new heads with that work already done, and perhaps some bigger valves.

Well I could keep this current set up and pay $550 plus install.
or the cam and goodies from TSP, plus these heads for $1200 or $1300
or the full set up from TSP, for close to 2K

TSP stage 2.5 ported LS6 heads with stainless valves and PRC spring kit
MS3 Cam
total - $1979 from TSP site
thats a hell of a price gap from $550
I can throw in the stainless valves, PRC springs, and MS3 to this current set up for $1250 total price, and have the Z06 cam to sell and recoup some cost.
or just take this set up for $550 and call it a day, assuming its all there.
i text the guy asking if the heads have guts, he didnt get back to me yet

The thing about used heads is sometimes by the time you get all the testing, and decking done you possibly could have just got a new set of heads..
Also no one want's a used stock cam.. imo

"Nothing crazy" then asks about ms4
Long list of good cams, I like the 224/228, variant of that cam was used in the 500rwhp recipe for a ls-1. Ever check on patg's cams?
