Power antenna install.....in pics
My antenna bit the dust last winter when it iced up and the ice caused the motor to pull to hard on the fragile plastic cord that moves it up n down.........I decided I had better get one before they disappear from the GM parts shelves........the dealer did not have 1 so he sent me to a local Ac/Delco dealer with the GM P/N in hand........the install was easy as pie ........but I did not know until install that it did not have a black mast.......the new 1 has a stainless steel mast.......lucky for me it kinda matches my silver car........so I dont know if black antennas are still available........and this differed from the original in the mounting grommet.......the old 1 just has that rubber grommet that you can squeeze to remove like any rubber grommet......the new 1 has nut that you screw into the mast on top of the rubber grommet.........there is a repair kit for power antennas....that includes a new mast and plastic retractable track......but the price of it was almost as much as the whole new unit

Heh... reminds me of the time the antenna in my Alfa went out. I went to Napa, bought a new one, walked out to the parking lot and took the old one out, installed the new one, then walked back in and asked him to throw it out for me. He looked at me and said, I've never seen a woman do that before, and I told him, it's so easy, my dog could do it

Great pics and good thread. I hate the look of the antenna being up so I leave it broken and down. Next spring I may have it shaved and gone. I use my Ipod touch and Pandora for music anyways
