Dead Engine.. 2006 Civic SI
I was driving to work as usual and after 1 mile of driving on the highway the RPMs didnt budge on switching to 4th gear. I kept trying but it didnt budge at all, so i turned down the music and i hear this clacking sound comming from the engine.. I pull over open the hood. I personally didnt know what i was looking at so i just called a tow truck to tow the car. The man checked the oil and said that there wasnt any oil in the tank at all. I get home to find out that there is a hole in the oil tank and ive been riding the car for god knows how long without oil. So basically there is something bad in the engine, but i dont know where to start. The car wont move so i cant just drive it to a shop, and i dont want to call another tow truck just yet. Does anyone know what might be messed up in the engine and how much it would take to fix on a 2006 Honda Civic SI fully loaded.?

You'd have better luck heading over to a website like... http://www.honda-tech.com
You wont find too many rotary specialists here.

See? Learn something new everyday, but I betcha some of the guys over at the website I posted knew that.
Not quite sure you think I was acting like a jerk... I went out of my way to find a suitable forum for him to ask this question on.

Yeah, I don't have a clue how I don't get in a wreck every time I drive through campus, I don't think I have ever watched the road while I'm there, ever

Yeah, a brand spankin' new car like that should definately be covered by a warranty. Sounds most cost-effective for Honda to just give you a new car than dropping in a new engine. Because with running with no oil, that engine is shot, or almost on its way. That definately decreased the lifespan of the engine if its not toast.

yep, thanks for coming to LS1 board for help, no problem mate...
the easiest fix would be if it's just the gaskets that are melted, or you may have one or two cylinders smoked... so you have to open it up and see, if it's aluminum gasket work then 300-400 damage. my 2 cents.

It would be more than gaskets. No oil for the pistons, valvetrain, or bearings. That's friction, metal on metal, no lubrication. That engine is close to the end of its rope without new parts and a major rebuilt. Since its brand new, I'd try to get a whole new engine, if not a new car.
