AIR Check Valve
My car threw a SES code P1416 AIR bank 2 and I was going to replace the passenger side check but I can't get it off. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm afraid I will damage the tube the check valve is threaded onto if I'm not careful, any suggestions??

Use two wrenches - one to hold the metal air tube steady, and one to unscrew the valve. If it's really tight unhook the air hose/clamp, remove the metal air tube from the car (2 bolts) and do it off the car. Don't overtighten the bolts on the manifold when you resinstall it, only something like 10lbft.

I tried the 2 wrench method, wouldn't budge. Haven't tried removing air tube from exhaust manifold yet, will bolts be seized in exhaust manifold?

Shouldn't be, I've had mine off a couple times doing plugs. There is a gasket under the metal air tube, PN 12553617 (cheap) if it doesn't reseal properly - but mine are still original. Buddy of mine w/a '99 had to take his off and put it in a vice to get it off. I'll look up the exact torque specs on the bolts for you...

15 lb ft - but didn't torque mine...just don't want you to snap the head off and have to drill it out. (Helms says to use a "NEW" gasket, but like stated earlier I didn't have to).

you must pull the tube off the manifold, then put it in a vise and its dam hard to get off.

Gotta use some muscle...you could also try some penetrating spray like wd-40. If you're a smaller guy like me you can get in the engine bay and use your weight to help, that's what I did
