Black- 1999 Camaro SS
Need new clutch or is this a hydraulic's problem?
So the past few months i've been having trouble getting into first but that's it. Well yesterday, i couldn't get the car into any gear! i had to try like 8 times to finally get it into reverse and it was acting funky. I know the clutch doesn't have many miles left so i figured it's time to replace. But now everything's fine and car gets into gear and reverse and everything is how it used to be. Master cylinder got replaced almost 2 years ago so could this be that or a slave cylinder, or is it really the clutch is about to go?

Clutch wear does not have anything to do with getting into gears, that is all hydraulics, synchros, etc. If the clutch is holding under power and you are not hearing noise from the throwout bearing then I would replace the fluid, bleed it, and replace the transmission fluid.

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
Mine did the exact same thing about a week before the slave cylinder shelled out on me....couldn't get into any gear, finally had to jam it in reverse, then everything was fine...until the next week of course... In my opinion, if you're tearing into it anyway, replace both the slave and the clutch....and don't wait if you don't have to, because when my slave went out, it took my perfectly good master cylinder with it......
