FireChicken has got a limp...
Hey all,
I've gotta 98' WS6 and I have a question about my cooling system.
Sometimes, when I am idling at a red light or at a drive thru (like tonight) the low coolant level light will come on and the coolant temp gauge will rise to around 200. My coolant level is good though and I've found that if I turn on my heater/AC when this happens, the temp will go down. The light goes off when I shut down the car.
Could there be a restriction in the coolant system causing this?
Or can this be a thermostat issue?
Or even the coolant sensor (passenger side/radiator) which was replaced about a year ago?
Please advise.

for some reason you fans arent turning on until you turn on heat. that is why your temp hand is going up. try to bleed the system could have air in it. had the same problem on a grand am. had air in the coolant lines

That would make sense as I had recently installed my LS6 intake. When I did the throttle bypass mod, the line got pointed down and dumped some coolant.
Any tips on bleeding air out?

pop the cap off and start the car and let it run for a while and it'll purge the air out. Just make sure to let it run long enough for the t-stat to open and get coolant circulating for a bit. It'll purge the air.
