08 Mustang GT/CS Blue- 2002 Trans Am WS6 traded
Does this hole belong here??
hey guys--just finished changing oil in my 08 gt with manual trans and noticed this on the bottom of the trans case. you are looking toward the front of the car. Looks to be irregular as if something punched whole in it. car drives fine, and no reason to suspect trans fluid loss. unfortunately, no dip stick to actually check it. I'm told its sealed and i wouldn't have lost fluid. So...does this belong there; and if not, is it something to worry about? Thanks for your help!

great pics--although I don't believe mine looks quite like that... Even if it is an 'aftermarket' hole, its location there seems that it would not effect anything, right?? just in the bellhousing around the clutch--nothing to leak and nothing a lil dust/moisture entering is going to hurt right?

lol--not a bad deduction there Smittro--but I'm sure that's not it--cause i sure didn't, and the car hasn't been worked on by anyone else. Think I'm ready to close the case on this one and quit worring about it--general opinion seems to be that there's no problem here. Thanks guys!

not insulted at all--actually a clever suggestion given the pics of mine and the others posted to compare to. don't know what the hell happened there--maybe if i'm by a dealer sometime i'll let them lift it and get their comments--still under warranty for 6,000 miles; so couldn't hurt.

from the second pic that Cutlass posted it looks like that hole is access to some drain plug or bolt....did you see anything in it?

grr... so doing the fuel filter 2 days ago and check on the trans--noticeable more fluid on the case now, althought not drippin or leavin puddle. brought it to dealership. they have it now, with tranny pulled. 5 guys stood there and looked at these 2 pics above and claimed how the hole didn't belong. so its been up in the air whether warranty was going to cover; even at my last converstation before work around 5 today. So I decided to do more homework tonight and find 4 or 5 pics of that same trans, with the exact same hole cast in it. wtf! how do 5 guys; not including the tech, look at this and not recognize it as manufactured that way??? surely they are not now tryin to dianose the damn hole! I can help--ford made it that way! So good news--warranty will most definately be covering whatever is causing fluid to be weeping from trans. bad news--bunch of incompetent or at very least un-observant folks will be performing the repair...
