Missing Something?????
I gotta guy at work with an 07 eclipse (m6) with the 3.8L thats wants to race. Sounded like a good idea to me. I was just wondering if these cars are faster than I think they are or what. I'm thinkin stock these little guys are good for like mid 14's or so. The only mod he claims to have is cat-back exhaust and he acts like he's got a race car. He swears up and down that I'll be surprised by how bad he'll beat me. My car isn't stock so I'm thinkin, shouldn't be a problem right??

In this situation, I would offer to race him in reverse. Then you would both be racing FWD and he would have SOMEWHAT of a better chance. Really, i think in reverse you could out launch him and win up to about 50 or as fast as you can go in reverse.
Its not even worth your gas! If you guys race, your gonna send him home crying.

I drive these things around all time time at work (eclipse), and own a '99 z28. The eclipses are quick and fun to drive, but not at all in the same league as the F bodies. Unless, as mentioned above turbos are involved

I raced one Twice... (with a really good driver in it- I know the guy)... they are ok... for what they are... but first time I beat him by like 5-6 cars... then the next time (months later)... I beat him by 4-5... just cause he learned his car better, and was able to shift faster...
and I was BONE STOCK... A4... so... you have nothing to worry about really...
Good Luck...Mods: SLP Air Lid w/ KN, Free-Mods, LS6 Manifold, Magnaflow, Headers, EFILive
Visuals: Angel eyes, rear eurolights and T/A rims
Suspension: Eibach ProKit, UMI Adj. Panhard, SFC's, LCA Relocation brakets, KYB AGX shocks

i think car and driver got one of those things to go like 14.1 in the quarter in one issue. their faster than most family sedans but nothing to brag about.

I'm goin with the SS spoiler but for the hood it's going to be either the sunoco or ultra z, I still haven't decided. A buddy of mine used to paint cars professionally so he's hookin me up, should be around 1K for for the paint job - materials included.
