Zapper, Dawn, Sammie and two other friends of ours took the trip to Rochester to pick up the engine from BTR Performance today. Before loading it up, we made a final pull on the dyno and the shop owner, Bill Trovato, went over everything with us in detail. The engine looks and sounds amazing! The numbers today were 404.9 hp at 5,900 rpm and 442.1 lb.ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. I can't wait to finish and drive the car now.
Start up and idle video (fan noise in background):

Mr. Trovato is the Olds guru -- his book "How to Build Max-Performance Oldsmobile V-8s" just came out. There are two pics of our W-31's balancer on page 39. I'll post some more build specs later.Last edited by pajeff02; 01-15-2011 at 03:20 PM.

Thanks, Dena!
Bluehawk -- the plan is to keep it "stock appearing". The engine will actually be equipped with factory exhaust manifolds, but will dump into a Pypes system. No nitrous and no other add-ons.

Engine looks and sounds pro. I just read the whole thread and glad your keeping it 'stock'. A couple years ago i did A-body frame off resto's for a living. Best job i ever had.

Try again.
What Dena said. One of our members, 9t8z28 (aka Brandon), works for Pypes and hooked me up with a complete system at Fall Carlisle.
Thanks for posting the vids Zach! Your camera works a whole lot better than mine does. I never thought about the fan noise on my side of the engine.

Sounds wicked Jeff! Should be a well rounded plant powerwise too. Might have to bring the 65 Dart out when I come to visit and do a classic muscle cruise, if I can get all the kinks out of it. Anxious to see it all together!

Jeff needs to scan and post the dyno sheet breakdown. This thing has a very nice, flat power/torque curve.
