Here is a quote from Gordon Murray (Designer of the McLaren F1) about the Bugatti, seems like his feeling were hurt

"The most pointless exercise on the planet has got to be this four-wheel-drive thousand-horsepower Bugatti. I think it's incredibly childish this thing people have about just one element—top speed or standing kilometre or 0–60. It's about as narrow minded as you can get as a car designer to pick on one element. It's like saying we're going to beat the original Mini because we're going to make a car 10mph faster on its top speed—but it's two foot longer and 200 kilos heavier. That's not car designing—that just reeks of a company who are paranoid..."

The plot thickens with my internet searching:

"Murray later brought up and criticized Volkswagen for "scamming" car buyers in the 90's for buying the cheapest parts possible for the production of Jettas and Golfs, allowing Volkswagen to make a larger profit off their car sales, funding the construction of the Bugatti Veyron. However, Murray was impressed with the Veyron's engine and transmission after he test drove one for Road and Track magazine"

Old beetles did wheelies and shit. New beetles are front drive and have a built in vase.
On a related note, a tan with brown soft top beetle passed us on our trip to Florida, slowly. Had a giant ass black dildo wobbling upright on the dash. Did not look to see what gender as it might be disturbing. Everyone on the rode was wtfing or getting away if they had kids

Just meaning that is one way of building a faster, better handling car. Start off with weight reduction. I hope it isn't fast as fuck, I enjoy fucking and wouldn't want it to end that fast

Dude if you made that car any lighter, it would probably fly off the road lol. They could have def stripped off some weight if they wanted to but its there for a reason.

Def a possibility Jeremy Clarkson told people that the car is very stable and undramatic at top speed.

That's very true. If you've ever seen the Bugatti's interior, there is a lot of electronics and stuff in there that you may find in a higher end luxury sedan, high quality leather seats, power windows, power seats, Dual Zone climate control etc.

But just like you said, if they did away with all of that luxury stuff, it probably would be a good bit faster. But it's already pretty much demolished every other production car on this earth though, so why even bother

Pretty much the truth. I wish GM would go all out and try to build a super super car (Consider the Z06/ZR1 a super car myself) It would be interesting to see what they would come up with. Too bad it would bankrupt them
