If you can find a dealer that is not going to play the markup game with you, then you should be able to walk into a dealer and order a bare bones no option 1ss for $32K. You will not find that car on the dealer lot, at least I didn't. Maybe you'll have more luck, everyone I looked at was right under 40K.
Now a 550hp Z28 for under 40K? I'd love to see that too, they could'nt make enough of them. I just don't see it happening, even if its bare bones I still think your looking at a $45K car easy. Now I realize a camaro is not a vette, absolutely no comparison. But a 550hp Z28 means a few things,
1. A new corvette is on the horizon, it has to be. This is stepping on a vettes toes plain and simple.
2. Even though its heavier its gonna whip a stock C6 in the straitaway and its gonna give a Z06 a run for his money too and vette people ain't gonna like it. Vettes are GM's flag ship sportscar, you cannot have some camaro runnin around showin them tail lights. It would hurt vette sales and GM ain't havin that.

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
And dont forget the top dog zr1 will still have more power and much better performance. Even the z06 will still hold its on in the 1/4mile and rape that z28 in every other area. Who even knows how long the z06 will still be made with the zr1 being soo much more impressive.
