I am going to try and stay away from a debate here. Zaino is a sealent and very excellent at that job. It does last much much longer on a DD. My car is not DD anymore and the Meguiars I applied just a month ago still looks the same. But the car is now a garage queen. It only comes out on DRY days period. Since nothing is effecting the paint (sun, rain, dew, sap, etc 24/7) there is alot less up keep.
While some car covers can create scratches I guess. There are many you can buy that will not leave a scratch. Kimberly-Clarkâs newest flannel-like cover is an example.

I just dont get scratches from my car cover on my Z. It is under cover 24/7, the cover is only taken off to drive.
Scratch-X works wonders and I recomend it to many people. It can fix alot of surface issues. But just like Zaino you have to go throught the prep stages with Meguiars. The only advantage to Zaino is it is a sealant not a wax and will last longer. Even when I was DD, I used Meguiars and IMO could achieve the same look the same gloss. Did I have to detail more often yes but I enjoyed it.
I guess I did not stay away from the debate..

Scratch x contains fillers that fill in tiny swirls, spiderweb sctratches. The only problem is- after the car gets exposed to the elements or washed the scratches come back again. Then it is scratch x time again. Waxing your car will fill in alot of swirls too- but they will be back in no time.
If you want to remove swirls/scratches you need a buffer, the correct pads for it and a quality polish and finishing polish ( like Menzerna super intensive polish and nano finishing polish) followed by a quality carnuba wax or sealant.
To keep swirls/scratches from coming back -implementing the 2 bucket system for washing, using grit gaurds in your buckets,a quality microfiber wash mitt, quality car wash soap with essential oils to prevent grit from being scrubbed into the paint, and using quality waffle weave microfiber drying towels will help alot.
I am sure your car cover might be the cause but your washing technique might be something to consider also.
