That's what I was trying to say. A funner car. A handling on rails Iroc with auto>Suburban with auto. And the Iroc is faster with better mpgs. I'm not saying buy this particular car, just that you may have broaden your horizons if you ever intend to not drive a burb. The auto to manual 4th gen ratio around here is like 10:1. My truck isn't fast and doesn't have a shift kit, but with a good tune and type f trans fluid it burns *a* tire hard hitting second. Throws you back like a mofo. Drive a real non-neutered automatic and you wouldn't say they aren't very fun.

So you're saying they break with power and when driven hard? That's sounds like a pretty good reason to not like them How much power and torque are you making to the wheels? 350 to 370? And to trans am, if he's got all the parts (not lost, mixed up) 3600 is decent, looks like a pretty clean rust free car

Mine had the Coevette style double cowl hood and the ground effects were color-matched. I don't think there were many made in 87. At least I didn't see many. I saw one red one and a black one. I loved driving at night and having jet fighter style gauges glowing.

Stall the 4L60E in the stock F-Body and beat on it....it will pop as well.

Not all transmissions handle decent amounts of power like the T56. Most don't for that matter.

Also keep in mind, some camaros, and i dont recall which ones as my third gen days are long behind me, would come with a borg worner (sp?) and then some had the saginaw (i think it was sag, but it might have been another high end trans make). I know one of them was more desirable because while doing a clutch I learned about the two diff trans available.

My first car was an 84 Chrysler Laser. Then I got the 86 Berlinetta Sport Coupe, 5 spd 2.8 multi port f.i. That car was quicker then it had any right to be. The one on the bottom was my first, and yes, that was a prom pic.

I refuse to drive another automatic vehicle. I know that a well built auto is fun as hell like you know, stall etc. but god dammit I want to shift when I want. I want to be able to hold that clutch in and rev to 4k and leave some nice ass black lines in the street. Thats what it's all about right there, thats what driving should be like.

I'm done with auto for a while. I know you can do almost the same with an auto but you feel more engaged in what the car is doing mechanically for some reason with a manual. Thats how it feels for me.

That was never my arguement. 4l60's are shitacular out of the box I know. Just that t-5's grenade pretty easily

i'll never own an automatic performance car for the exact reasons you stated. I could give a fuck if the automatic is more consistent and quicker by a few tenths. The fun of these kinds of cars is ripping gears imo. So stickshifts for me. Even if i do get waxed by some automatic car.

Actually I take that back Wheelie. If it was a car just built for the track then i'd def. do a auto setup but hell no for the street.

The t5 in the fbods was weaker then in the fox body mustangs. less splines on both the input and output shafts and the gears themselves were weaker. they never had to handle a lot of power as most of them were behind 2.8 v6's.

320 ish. but i did specifically state, nothing wrong with the design itself. and if im not mistaken, a lot of the guys that installed t5s in automatic thirdgens install mustang t5s. most of the fbod t5s were in v6s.

I must say....I would LOVE to know what my car would run with a properly stalled and geared auto.

But I drive it way too much on the street to switch out the M6.
Although dropping the T56 is getting a little old. Has to come down yet again here to shim the slave just a cunthair.

i'd love to know what your car could do on a sea level track, with the m6 lol isnt a lot of the fun of your car at the track forever trying to beat previous times? theres a sense of achievement beating your personal best with a manual

There is. I am VERY happy with my car running what it does.
But I know I am leaving a few tenths on the table....

And yeah....sea level would be fun. Good DA night it should trap damn near 130MPH.
