thinking about going at it a little differently this time around. I've ran Toyo MT's the last few years and love them but they're getting out of hand price wise.....$350 per tire. That's getting to where it's just a matter of principle as to why I won't buy them. I'm not in love with them that much. I saw a guy that had mastercraft courser MT's on his truck and the tread pattern is very similar to the Toyo tires. They're made by Cooper which is an Ohio made tire so that's another reason I'd like to try them. $880 for 4 installed. So for the price of Toyo tires I can get new rims and tires. The plan is to run those MT's for a few months and then get a set of summer tires so I can run 2 sets of tires. I think in the long run that would work out better for me. We do a lot of freeway driving during the summer so a summer or even AT tire would work much better for me during the summer then switch over to MT's during the fall/winter for hunting season. I wouldn't need a long life MT tire and keeping them off the freeway will greatly extend the life of an MT plus running a summer or AT tire will give me a better ride on the highway and last longer. Just seems like the best way to go for how I use the truck.
This is all a trade off because I back burnered buying a new truck. Not only are newer ('11+) diesels crazy money but they're all basically big piles of shit. I was having trouble finding one that hadn't been to the dealership a dozen times for work. The emissions stuff is killing these trucks....they're going through the same thing the gas burners went through in the late 70's. At least with my current truck I know what I have and at 130k on the duramax I still have plenty of miles left in it.

he did knock him off the sled when I was pulling him around. It's really only a matter of time before that dog gets ran over. That quad needs tires bad....if it wasn't for AWD that thing wouldn't go anywhere haha. I've not been in any real hurry to put new tires on it because new tires = torn up yard even more during the summer.

I have been running General Grabber AT2s for the past 2-3 years. I really don't have any complaints. Haven't been stuck while hunting or ice fishing. In fact the first year I got them I went to a big ice fishing event. The lake froze weird and created 6-8 inches of slush under the snow on top of the ice. I spent the entire morning until 1pm pulling people and their shanty's off the lake. They make very little noise and have probably 40% or more tread left after 2-3 years of use and a 50 mile round trip commute to work everyday. For the price you really can't go wrong.

Those are load range D and I need E. I'm pretty set on an aggressive MT tire for hunting season and then a highway tire for summer. It's really the best of both worlds. I buried the shit out of my truck down there this year with Zach. I got it out by throwing logs in the ruts but with an AT tire there's no way I would've gotten out of that without some help.....it was down all the way to the running boards on the drivers side. The duramax trucks are heavy as hell and sink like a rock....I want as aggressive of a tire as I can put under it really for hunting but those tend to be pretty terrible on the highway. I could see my 2nd set being an AT tire but I still need that load range E tire for hauling the camper.

I ran MasterCraft's for years on our cars back when one of my friends owned a shop that stocked them. I am fairly certain we installed Coursers on our Durango and I think my Ranger. Great tires and never had an issue in all the years that we ran them.

They sell them load range e as well. For 110-160 a piece they work well imo

I see the ATP in an e tire. I could see running that as my summer tire.
I also thought about going to a 305/70/16 which is almost a true 33x12.5 tire. I would have to cut the rear of the inner fenderwells on the front but that's really not a big deal.Last edited by 0rion; 02-16-2016 at 03:13 PM.

****GroundHog Day February Train******
I've got cooper atp on my ram and don't like them. not worth a shit for mileage and choppy, and yes I do rotate them. also pretty sure they're stamped made in China.
I'm with Zinergy, we've been running General AT2 on our service trucks. Great mileage and wear. all have been 10ply rated 265/70/17 this far, new truck is 18" but we'll see how they are.

Shitty night. Went to take some filet mignon out to my parents since we can get it pretty cheap through a buddy of ours. Ended up holding my 20 year old childhood cat as she breathed her last breath.

hopefully you have better luck than I did with the KL71's. I got 23k miles out of those tires. Great looking tire and really quiet on the highway for an MT but that's about half of what I would expect from a tire. They were directional which didn't help because it screws up the rotation. The 2500's are quite a bit heavier than the 1500's and hard as hell on tires. The Toyo MT's I have now have been a great tire. I could get 50k out of these if I really push them but my family rides in the truck and their lives isn't worth a few more thousand miles. I think I'm at 45k now on them. Just can't come to terms with a $350 tire.
