Got married to my first wife when I was 18. Had our first kid 11 months later. After that all we did was argue and fight. By our fourth year she was having our second daughter. Less than a year later we were divorced. And I have been paying that deep pocket child support for 12 years now. Looking back I can honestly say we were way to young to get married. Seemed right at the time. But I would definitely tell anyone to wait until you are at least 25 before tying the knot. Each person should find time to get out and socialize, get your self a career, meet different people to see what you really want in them and for your self. And marry someone who is at your level of financial stability, maturity, and can walk WITH you through the road of life, not needing for you to carry, or drag them down that road. You and your spouse will be much happier. I say this for both men and women.

Dating just seems more logical than marriage.

The only reason to get marriage is to have children. Otherwise, you're just buying into either religious or romantic bullshit.

I'm not working my ass off as an engineer at Lockheed Martin just so some chick can trick me out of half of my assets in a divorce court... I like my money thanks.

Oh, stop pretending to be logical and just admit you're skeerd!
Come on, with the divorce rate at 51%, risking your life savings on a marriage is a good idea

I'm only kidding with the skeerd comment.

The divorce rate is so high because people who don't need to be getting married are getting married. I applaud both of you if have taken a stand to stay away from marriage. Just like there are people who shouldn't have kids, there are ones that just shouldn't marry. If you look at marriage as the beginning of a divorce or monetary agreement, then you obviously have taken a correct step.

Happily married, here. May will be 4 years, and it keeps getting better and better. Our lovelife is great, we're mooshy-mooshy with each other in public, and we both like to get out and do stuff.

To those who are skerred of getting married, look for reasons NOT to marry the girl you're with, if you find one, then DON'T MARRY HER. Sooner or later, the right one will come along and make you melt like butter in her arms, and you'll be one of the happiest men on earth.

Those go out the window unless she cheats. If you have kids or are married to her for more than a certain# of years it is pretty much done for. Also any good divorce lawyer can eat up a prenup like a pittbull on a kitten.
