Just applied to a local Midas shop. I haven't heard from STS corporate about a pay increase...so I am keeping my options open.

Saw a new 5.0 GT around today.
I was in the Grand Ma.
I was sad.

[quote=Transamws6;2374394]Ok, that'd be great, I'll give you a shout once I know exactly where we'll be in OBX. And I'm not the kind of guy that slides into flip-flops and goes running around on the beach, not my thing, I'm hoping thats not the only thing to do out there.
Thats the 2nd time i've heard a story about the the turbos on the 6.0's exploding. Thats just ridiculous.
But on another note, I understand your grandfathers an older guy and not one of those faggot diesel ricer dudes, I was just saying, I've heard it gets pretty expensive to actually make those 6.0's reliable. And i've heard nothing but good things about the 6.4's except that they just get bad gas mileage.
edit: was a 6.0 gasser ^
[QUOTE=pajeff02;2374364]Ok -- since we have all you truck nuts on the train...
I am considering a truck to tow a car trailer -- probably an aluminum tandem axle trailer hauling a 3,600 lb. car. What do I want to get?
I don't know the exact payload on these, but you might be able to just get a 2500 6.0 Vortec Silverado and tow your car and that Aluminum trailer, but I'd get a diesel just to be safe, and the 6.0 Silvy's get pretty terrible gas mileage if my memory serves me correctly. Probably the Duramax or Cummins if I had to pick a diesel though.
edit: was a 6.0 gasser ^ also, other than the regen problems which were fixed with a retune, some turbos have to be replaced neccisating cab removal for access..Last edited by wheeliE-maxx; 07-01-2010 at 07:36 PM.

[quote=wheeliE-maxx;2374521]Man, so the 6.0 gasser is a slouch too? And you said he had 4.10's as well? Damn, and he had the 1500HD, and I THINK that the 2500's are a little beefier than the 1500's in terms of weight so it's probably even more sluggish in the 2500, not a good thing.
And the 8.1? Thats that Big Block that came in like the Heavy duty Avalanches i guess you could call them??? Not sure about the Avalanches but i think they came in one model. But I know they also came in the 2500 Suburbans. I had no idea you could get them in Silverados as well.
And it's weird how everyone else had all these great experiences with their 5.7 Vortec powered Chevy truck while my folks 96' Tahoe was just a nightmare on wheels and completley self-destructed at like 125k, I just don't get it, I'm starting to take what people say about those trucks with a grain of salt.
