[QUOTE=etownfbplayer;2179ght my 2000 z-28 M6 from a dealership whom of which did all of the service to it. They were running a castrol 5-30 dino. I decided to switch to Royal Purple 5-30 full synthetic. Previously the car did not eat any oil, with RP i lost 2 quarts in 45 days. Its not in the coolant and the exhaust doesnt smell like oil. Does anyone have any thoughts please?[/QUOTE]

first if you read more of this thread, RP sucks, pennzsoil platnium is a better oil, As far a oil consumtion, if you run the car hard, ls1 are know for chewing up oil and should be checked often, The pcv system sucks on are cars and if you run the car hard the pcv system will blow it into the intake system and cause your oil consumtion. hope this helps a little

    Filter substitution

OK guys, I know about the 4.2 Trailblazer sub. for the 2002 LS1 Camaro. Now it's time for an oil change for 2008 5.3 GMC. The stock filter is quite small like the LS1. Both vehicles call for different filters. So is there a longer filter for this application ?

I have the same engine in a 08 Silverado. I use a Perma Cool dual filter setup.

You can use a double filter or single either one. The filters are FL1A size.

Sarge, do you use an oil cooler with your dual remote filter setup? Also, do you use an oil temperature gauge?

Well it will run fine, there just better oil out there for less. That is proven in a crap ton of oil test. Royal purple was even sued for false claims. Thats all, you can run it all you want it will still run fine. Good luck.

thanks, i'm gonna let her run for a year with the royal purple and see how i like it. if it seems the same as what castrol full synthetic is, then i'm going back to castrol. i've used castrol for years and it's never done me wrong. i'm just the type of person who has to see how things work for myself, lol

Hey Sarge, just saw Horsepower TV, showing the Royal Purple oil filter. Have you ever used, tested this filter. We all know how poor their oil is, I wonder how their filter compares to Amsoil, Mobile 1 and Wix?

Thumbs up on the 0W-30 in your T/A! On the oil filter, the Amsoil unit is 100% glass media and the K&N is paper cellulose. The glass filter is much better.
