Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A, 00 FBVert, 78T/A
I got the FRC's done and installed. These things are deceptive. They look easy to install but they are not for the first time.
Damn throttle and cruise control cables were the biggest PITA to figure out how to route. I had to look at other ppl pics to figure it out.
Overall I happy for my first attempt at painting them.
(And yes I know I need to clean her up. Wish the damn rain would let up so I could)
I have a new Chrome Mobil 1 Oil cap coming. I'm looking at the oil fill tube and thinking about painting it too. Comments/suggestions?
One more with my UMI TSB. I'm going to very soon send it to get powder coated NBM. I'm having a crazy idea of maybe sending it to Nashville and getting it chrome platted. I'm also thinking of doing the lid and radiator support, just not sure if to do it in black or NBM. Again comments/suggestions on both?
Also this area on the drivers side (the spot that has paint messed up) It's driving me nuts. Break fluid was spilled on it, I tried getting it off as quickly as I could but it still ate it up. Not sure how to fix it with out making it look far worse.
These are a life saver. Worth the $20 paid for. I needed to re-route my wire harness under the fuel line.
Also got a new shifter knob. So far I'm liking it more and more, just have to get use to the new shifter as well as the knob. It also doesn't burn my hand after a long 100* day like the leather one did.
Unfortunately it only comes in black. I can live with it.
Anybody know where I can get a new shift boot that is smaller?

Looks great! I agree, it was a chore installing the FRC's the first time I did it. Now, I can pop them on and off pretty quickly.

Maple Red Metallic- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am M6
Got my stuff ready to clean and paint my filler panel. Needs to be painted due to a flaw in the plastic causing a marbling effect under the surface. 1 can universal gloss to match the plastic, 1 can clear, and a touch up pen to fill in my de-painted Trans Am decal. Pity they don't make Sport Gold pens, so I had to settle for the closest shade of Gold Metallic/ WA398E. Code 60 rather than Code 61 paint.
Probably do it during the week once I get the car back. Getting it prepped for Gratiot and Woodward baby!

Well, they are on...and they look pretty good. I know some of you are tired of blue on white, but there isn't another one around these parts, so it should really stand out.

Also replaced the red logos on the back filler panel with white ones. I would like to put a silver/blue ZR1 style WS-6 logo from emblempros.com on the back replacing the stock emblem. Was considering a Pontiac logo in silver/blue for the front nose as well.

Performed 180* mod, only to find out it now grinds when up instead of down, but now I am able to turn fogs/parking lights on and lock doors without them popping up. Also replaced lows with H4703 ultrastars until I snag an hid set.

Navy Blue, Dark Cherry- 98 M6 TA, 87 A4 TA
Ya, i kind of regret doing the 180 mod on my drivers side 4 years ago. About 1 year ago my passanger side also went so I got the brass gear kit and it works great on the passanger side, but now my drivers side is starting to show signs of wear again and I can't get the housing to come back apart from the JB weld I used to put it back together so I cant get my drivers side brass gear in :/ I'll have to buy a used housing and install my 2nd brass gear sometime.
oh and I gave my car a really quick wash while I had the pressure washer out between honey-do projects (pressure wash house, clean out gutters, quick car wash (shhh) )Last edited by TransAmX2; 07-25-2011 at 06:07 AM.

I think I'm gonna just get two new motors from rock auto, ones that have screw in covers. That way if the gear fails in the future I can get the brass ones and never worry about them again.

Ugh....started covering all of my rebber hoses with steel braided sleeves...it looks damn good, but the end clamps need to be ground out to fit the hose. I did 2 of 24 last night and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it to the end. If this turns out to be ugly, I'm going to be super pissed.
I'm also considering pulling my headlight assemblies and replacing all of the bumpstops and the headlight gears at the same time.

Went out and picked up some Castrol Syntec 0W-30 German blend and a K&N oil filter, will change the oil sometime this week. I'll be curious to see how the car reacts to synthetic...the previous owner only used standard oil.

Matt, why are you going with 0w30?
Maybe, possibly, in the winter, if we are having temps below 0.
It's hot out!!!!

From what I've read, the low 0W number should not do anything to affect the wear of the engine in hot weather, it just means that the oil is more pumpable in cold weather.

2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
thats what my undesrtanding gives me....the first number is related to its cold viscosity, the second is its hot viscosity....i run 10W30 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter.

That's why I question the 0w20. Too thin for this hot weather.

Took some Simple Green and paper towels to the engine bay (ABS block, frame rails, radiator supports, coolant overflow tank, etc.). Cleaned off the oil/dirt buildup of 11 years. Suprisingly, it all came off relatively easy...granted I went through half a roll of towels, but it's all clean now.
