Just play a lot. Your hands will get used to it. I have short fingers, and got past it with enough practice.

Also, don't just learn your favorite songs. Learn a wide variety. This is easy for me purely because my musical taste is so diverse. Not only will it get you learning to play with different tunings, styles, chords, methods, etc, but when you know enough, people will be amazed at your ability to play [insert whatever random band they say they like] instantly on request.

yeah... except my problem is that the crazy bitch was stalking me... what's fucked up is one day i get ready to head out to the bar... all my curtains are closed and there is no way to see inside my place... i spilled wet cat food all over my shirt and pants and had to change... i get to the bar and psycho stalker is there and she says "you should have kept your first outfit on... it was really nice... looked all GQ..." that was fucking it for me...
