front and rear side markers are not exchangable, must be the camera angle

    Well...while I've never heard of a WS6....I've owned several late 60, early 70 Chevelle's, several Camaro's and one 84 Trans Am.

This car was clean as hell....engine was tight...shifting was smooth and clean and the front end was very responsive. I would describe the car as tight all around....so I was very surprised when I started to research the car that this dealership had it priced so low. That's when I became skeptical.

I looked at a '71 Chevelle once that was supposed to be an SS but when I got there I knew immediately that it was a fake....looked awesome...but some idiot actually went though the trouble of turning it into a SS......so I thought maybe that was the case with this car.

It has 163,000 on it but it runs so freaking good that it doesn't really bother me. I saw the car fax and the car was purchased in Ohio, I'm in SC, and had 2 owners.....both older drivers. No major damage or major repairs were reported....metal is straight...paint is really good except for the hood and that needs to be redone....the headliner is in great shape except that it is sagging a little in the middle. Do the headliners clip to the roof? If so then it might just need a clip or two to keep it from sagging. Other than that there's nothing else wrong with it!

What should somebody expect to pay for a car like this with 163,000 on it?

Thats 1 of 35 '97 Formula WS6s w/ M6 in DGM (Dark Green Metallic 48U) built. That's actually the rarest color that was available on WS6s that year. If it drives as well as you claim and most everything works, seems like a good deal to me, hard to go too wrong for that money. By this mileage, most of the factory flaws have probably been fixed.

WS6 is just the rpo code for what some would call the 'ram air' package,

a WS6 Trans Am or Formula has the ramair intake/hood/special wheels/suspension/etc

Yes it is 'Real'. It is a 1998 Black Trans Am with T-Tops. It was converted on July 14th, 1998. It is the 2,918th of 3,074 made in that model year. There were 1,614 models that were black with T-tops in 1998. At least that is according to our records. Good luck.

Hey Mr PontiacGuy, long time no see. I don't suppose you'd care to share your records of ASC#s, would you? I sent you a PM some time ago on this, seems the black & red '98s and all the other years are getting more difficult to find. Please reply via PM when you get a chance.

Your car was made June 25th, 2002. It was the 10,472 made that year. It is a Blue T-Top with a manual trans. It is one of 818 made with this combination.

Yo , PontiacGuy, nice job yer doin' here. I have a question for you: Vin # 2G2FV32G422160363.... I know it's a ws6 since I bought it new in '02 from the dealership where I worked. What I've been trying to find out is How MANY '02 SOM/ WS6/ M6/ verts were made. Judging from the info I've received from GM, I figured there were less than about 200 made. While at the TA Nats last year I was talking to some dude who said he worked at GM and that there were only 40-45 of them made. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The car was ordered on the last day of April, '02, and was built on May 31st, ( I think ). If you need any more info just post in this thread. THANX

I was wondering if anybody could help me determine if I'm buying a genuine WS6 or not? I've never heard of a WS6 before I found this one. I was looking for either a TA or a Z28 for my son and came across what the dealer is calling a WS6...drove it...loved it...and put a deposit on it till my mechanic can check it out.

CompNine's database for the '02s is missing several units, 7360 by my count compared to another reliable data source I have. SO, FWIW, of the 714 '02 WS6 M6 'verts in CompNine's database, only 19 were SOM. The other data source I have indicates there were 1176 total '02 WS6 M6 'verts built, so I'd estimate that (assuming same distribution of colors) there were ~31 SOMs.

UPDATE: Found the details in my other data source (looks like my estimate of 31 was pretty close):
