Black/Black- 2000 Trans Am WS6 A4
The stock amp, and/or headunit could never power a rockford fosgate 10... ever...
they can't even power the stock 6.5"s...

actally, it works pretty good, i went ahead and tried it. its nothing to brag about, ut considering all the other speakers in my car are still in tact, and the 10 inch sub/speaker box that i bought on ebay only cost me 20 dollars, it is great

It may sound better (given the sub is somewhat sensitive and can perform decently with little power (<75wrms) than two separate 6.5s.... However, it obviously wouldn't sound like anything to anyone who has ever heard a real setup.
I still want someone (Camaro owner) to use a 2 ohm DVC sub, and power one voice coil with one pair or sail panel wires, and the other VC with the other pair.... that would probably be a significant improvement for someone not looking to purchase another amp, I think

well, my dad has a 2003 cadilac escalade ext, with the original bose setup, but it has a 1000 watt amp powering 2 jl audio 12s, so i know what a good system sounds like, and i know that mine doesnt sound great, but for me it is fine, i listen to classic rock anyway, so wahtever.

I have a 2000 Z as well. Can you post your wire findings? (diagram)
Thanks.

I used the LR sub line level wires, got a low level convertor for them, connected that to my (new) amp, and that runs 2 10s in the hatch cover. Very nice bass now, shakes the can in the cup holder nicely! BTW, before I got the amp I had the stock Monsoon amp drive the 10s, it worked ok and was an improvement over the stock sail panel subs.

I have a2002 Z/28 with a monsoon. My L front speaker went out. I can use the fade and I get power to the L rear and left sub also all three speakers on the R side. Only the front L has no sound. No signals get to the L front speaker. I replaced the HU with another monsoon HU, still no signal to the L front speaker. I then replaced the AMP with another used Monsoon amp. Still no signal to the L front speaker. What could be causing this ?

Sounds like possible broken speaker wire in the door jamb. That would be first to check, yeah it's a PITA. Think, tho, that door is opened/closed the most and that stresses the wires. I have fixed wires for other concerns on other cars in the past, the drivers door wires are first to go. Anyway, something to consider.

Is there a testing device I can use on a speaker wire to check continuity without stripping it ?

Use the wiring diagrams to see where your speaker wire goes to, then get to both ends of that wire, then ohm the wire. That is the best way. Shake the wiring harness while you have the ohmmeter hooked up also. I bet you have a broken/bad wire somewhere....

That is impossible to ohm sisnce it starts in the trunk at the amp and goes to the L front door. Maybe the dealer has an idea.

That is how I do it at work. My meter has long wires, I get one end then find the other and ohm it. Not real fun, but it is my work. Just gotta git-er'dun! There's some nice English!

Connect a piece of wire to one end that is long enough to allow you to use a multimeter at the other end of where you'll be doing the ohms check. It's not like you are checking for amperage or voltage. Any reading other that nil means the wire isn't broken so a piece of scrap wire is all the additional "tool length" you need.

oK With I see it could be done. Now with all the different diagrams floating around 3 questions.
1. On a 2002 Z/28 which pin's ?
2. Which color are the wires supposed to be ?
3. Why does the speaker not work at all since it has 2 voice coils ?Last edited by Danger731; 01-16-2008 at 04:13 AM.
