Counting only the years where both were made, the F-body has outsold the Mustang.

While we're at it, GMs 1500 series trucks have outsold the F150 for well over a decade.

Yes if you count GMC sierra and chevy Silverado as one, but when you seperate the two the f-150 beats both. I'm not saying which way to think about it is correct, Im just saying.

Ya I love how the "F-series is the #1 Selling Truck for the last 1000 Years" Combine the sales of the Sierra and Silverado, and ya, not so much. GM's 1500's dominate the market. GM gives the consumer a choice of which grill they prefer; a Sierra or Silverado.

    F150....240,345

    Silverado......166,782
    Sierra............55,608

Grand total for both......222,390 Still under the f-150

In the heavy-duty segment, where only Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC compete, the Ford F-250 three-quarter-ton and F-350 one-ton trucks continued to rule the pack with almost 50 percent market share and 65,868 units sold. The Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500, in second place, picked up 2.2 points of share, the only heavy-duty truck to do so. The Ram HD sold 35,916 units. Combined sales (41,004 units) of the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD weren’t enough to catch Ford’s HD pickups. The Chevy lost .8 points and the GMC was off .9 points of share.

Even the HD wasnt even close.

Seriously. I highley doubt that the camaro out sold the stang in the years it was in production. And I'm sure the 7 yrs the camaro has been out of production, mustang sales sky rocketed.

I think you quoted the wrong post.I put up that list to show the camaro is no where close to the mustang.

The gt500 is still cheaper but not by much. I agree that the 2010 camaro came out and was faster than the 2010 mustang gt. 6 months later ford releases the 5.0 and GM fans are crying and moaning. They cant accept the fact ford has built a better and faster car with much much less displacement.
yeah that a good comparison. look how much cheaper a base 5.0 is than a vette. that is riveting.

i think most guys are fine with the fact the ford finally after 1000 years has come out with a sports car that can compete with the rest of the world. and they did a good job.

and all it really means is were going to have an even faster camaro in a couple years. whats the big deal?

The other cars dont get off so easy. The cobalt is a joke, even the SS has one of the most bland cheap interiors i have ever sat in.

we had an '06 lt, bought new. Probably the worst new car ever, barring (most?) yugos. In the interior alone, the head unit failed along with the sub and three speakers. They wouldn't replace the head unit because they could get it to temporarily work sometimes. Wiper switch and motor, three window switches or motors, not sure, two door seals, all the silver interior paint would come off, torturous seats. Won't even mention mechanicals.. I feel sorry for whoever carmax sold it to

Really? Because the first comparison test Motor Trend did after the debut of the 2010 Camaro SS was vs the Mustang GT and Challenger R/T. The results were as follows:
    1st: SS
    2nd: GT
    3rd: R/T

pardon, *some* magazines. The gt out handled and braked them both, as well as beating the camaro because of its ridiculous ergonomics and limited visibility

The 2010 GT with the handling package has better handling than the SS, no doubt. The braking difference is negligable, being within 5-10 feet on the R&T tests while C&D had them being the same. Obviously a drag race was a loss for the 2010 GT. But the rest of the results were largely subjective: Motor Trend's writers were initially impressed by the 2010 SS's styling, while the writers and R&T and C&D were not. Personally I would rather drive the GT stock, but I'd rather have the SS if I were going to be modding up. Bottom line is that GM came out of the gates with a competitor when they released the new Camaro. Will I be buying one? Absolutely not. Is it a competent performance car? Sure.

Remove 64, 65, and 66 Mustangs. Compare the 67-02 Mustang to the 67-02 Camaro/Firebird (I'll use Camaro/Firebird from now on for you ) Do the math.

I see what you did.Your using 2 different cars against one cause separately neither could have outsold it. Gotcha!!!

Okay - then why was the Firebird left out?

Edit: And why do you suppose the Camaro is outselling the Mustang right now in the near term? Could is possibly be because there is no Firebird any longer??? Amazing how that works.

Because the 2010 camaro came out and everybody wanted the new gen camaro. Now the 2011 stang is out. It would be more accurate to compare the numbers at the end of 2011 and see where they stand new models vs new model. Anytime you discontinue a classic car lie kthe camaro for 8 years and then brign a whole new model to the floor people will be interested but when the hype calms down that when you know if you really built a good selling car.
