My husband wanted to give me another diamond (eternity band)for our 15year anniversary.....
I asked for 20 X 40 foot inground pool with a stamped concrete pool deck instead! Alot more practical in my opinion!

My dad had me carry, cut, and carry again about 1000 lbs worth of the stuff when I was about 15 years old

The wifes old ring was boxed up and sent off yesterday. The new one is paid for and is being made now.

New: 0.802 ct, VS1, G, ACA (Super-Ideal) cut. The setting will be the same, in an X-prong trellis...although due to the size the old setting wouldn't suffice so I had to get a new one.

Will post once the ring is complete!

Started out with 1/2 carat, who knows the quality.

at 5 yrs traded the original for a 1.01 F VS2 in a new setting.

First child, switched the stone to a platinum setting. (found new jeweler)

Twins, she got a 1.5 ct 3 stone necklace thing. no idea the stone quality, just looked nice.

20 yrs, 2.02 ct D VS1 optimal cut and polish.

My wife has never asked for any jewelry that was more than a couple of hundred bucks.

I have spent way more than I probably should have to buy her some really nice stuff, IMHO.

I don't mind and don't feel required to in any way.

She does not say hardly a word about how much I spend on cars, hobbies, hunting, and car show travels expenses. She really only gives me crap about smoking and getting some exercise (both for my own good).

    So why not.

Besides, most, not all, but most of the women left out there or that are single, well they just really crazy... that's why they ain't married.

Why trade a good horse for a young one?

I wouldn't change anything about my ring. This is the ring he proposed to me with. No matter how much more money he makes it won't change. My ring has far too much sentimental value for me to trade it for the next bigger, better, shiny thing.
If you feel you should "upgrade" why not buy her something more along the lines of an anniversary band?

Because I didn't use the original ring to propose...there was no "engagement" ring until we had been married for ~13 months.

It still is what you chose to give her as a promise in your case symbolize the marriage to her. So instead why not get something to symbolize the 5 years?

Give her wood for the 5 year anniversary, thats what I did. I bought my wife an antique ceder lane chest for all of her momentoes, and another form of wood as well

    I am..........a bigger diamond.

She used to work with jewelry before we got married, I believe she was even a certified gemologist so I can't pull a fast one on her. Hell, she was able to grade the first one without even using a lupe. Was damn close on ct. size too.

She doesn't want an infinity band. Per her, "They get beat up too easily."

Honestly, I think she'd prefer a nice Right Hand ring over an anniversary band.

In the nearly 5 years we've been married, we've lived in 4 different states so we try to not accumulate furniture that we care about. We will when we finally settle down and buy our next home, I'm sure we will though.

Yea my wife was griping about not having anything to put our sons outfit he wore home, his first christmas outfit haloween costumes ect. so that is what I bought her,Got it for 50 bucks off of a guy that was moving, it is slightly beat up but hell It is an antique. It even has the origional sticker in the bottom with the price on it,the origional lock many were changed do to an issue with kids locking themselves in. She was thrilled.

That still don't stop you from giving her for the wood

Since we don't have a baby sitter, my MIL is driving down from PA to watch the kids. We'll do Friday night out at the Melting Pot (great dinner last weekend!), and do Saturday night at a B&B in Colonial Williamsburg. I figure I'll find a nice restaurant and actually get down on one knee this time. By the time we get back to the B&B I figure we'll be pretty loaded, so I'll have a bottle of Moet White Star ready (had that on one of our anniversaries....I can't remember which. The second, if I recall). After that we'll do it like they do on the discovery channel.

As the date gets closer I'll poll LS1.com for suggestions on how to re-propose. (I'm not hiding the ring in the desert....too messy, and a choking hazard.)

If you're going to do the whole traditional down on one knee thing, I say give it to her then

I think it's nice that you put so much thought into it.

If I want to go anywhere or do anything... I'm always the one who does all the planning and figures it all out
